P: Edit In External Editor does not work/function

I can not send images from LR4 to any external editor via Photo>Edit In. My system is Mac OS 10.7.3. Using the Edit In command fails to open the external editor and no error message results. This occurs whether the images have the 2012 Process Version applied or not. My external editors are primarily PSE10 and Nik Silver Efex Pro 2.0. This is an important part of my workflow.

I have reinstalled PSE10 and updated to the newest version of Silver Efex Pro.

Greetings

On the Lightroom Forums I posted a temporary patch I was able to base off a Adobe Kb article that Nik Support pointed another user too. It should provide a sufficient work around until the patch is released. It does not use the install of Photoshop or Elements.

I only run windows machines and all seems good for them now. I dont have a mac so could only guess for that OS. It starts on page 4

http://forums.adobe.com/message/42579...

I included a farily long detailed post that I tried to explain the what and why, but the post after I think might be a bit more helpful for people just wanting Lr4 to work.

Hope it helps

I have the exact same problem with LR4, PSE9 and NIK plug ins.

Nice job Adobe. You guys are the very best at what you do.

Is there some way to go back to the beta? It appears to have been uninstalled while the final was installed but going back would make the wait for a bug fix a lot easier.

On MAC OS 10.6.8 LR4 does not launch external editors. I get no error message, I just get zero response. This BUG needs to be fixed ASAP.

Silver Efex 2 Plug in not longer works with Lightroom 4. I get the following error when I try to edit the photo in Silver Efex 2

unexpected error performing command bad argument #1 to lower' (string expected, got nil)

Os is Windows 64 Bit and Silver Efex is version release for Lightroom 4

I was on the phone today with tech support for 45 minutes trying to figure out the exact same problem with my elements 10. They said they have passed the information on to the engineers, gave me a case #, and said to keep checking it for information. Hope it happens quickly.

Hi,

I'm Lorenzo, from Italy, and I have the same problem with Win 7 64-bit, LR 4 just installed and the NIK Silver Efex Pro 2 plugin.
All original software, no cracks, all updates done, but this trouble!
Work fine with LR3.6, also after the upgrade to NIK version 2.004...
But with LR 4 no way to "edit in" any file.

Hope in an Adobe solution, cause I would like to start working with this version of LR...
Obviously I can develop my images with LR 3.6, but i've paid this new version with my sweaty money and i would like to use it.

Same problem with the French version of LR4 : can't use anymore Alienskin Exposure 3 as external editor. Win 7-64 edition.

And the beta LR4 worked fine !!

I will try to install PSE trial version.

Another user, same problem. Imac 21.5 inch with 8 gig ram and Lion 10.6.8

I edit in Elements 10. I don't understand the need for jumping through all sorts of hoops to get a workaround. Fix it Adobe.

Any chance of an update as to when a fix will be available?
