P: Edit In External Editor does not work/function

I can not send images from LR4 to any external editor via Photo>Edit In. My system is Mac OS 10.7.3. Using the Edit In command fails to open the external editor and no error message results. This occurs whether the images have the 2012 Process Version applied or not. My external editors are primarily PSE10 and Nik Silver Efex Pro 2.0. This is an important part of my workflow.

I have reinstalled PSE10 and updated to the newest version of Silver Efex Pro.

Where's the final release?
I don't want to install an English version of LR, I need LR in German.
And I need that problem fixed until end of next week.

In Lightroom 4.0 cercando di eseguire il comando MODIFICA IN (PSE 10.0) compare il seguente messaggio
UNEXPECTED ERROR PERFORMING COMMAND: BAD ARGUMENT #1 TO "LOWER" (STRING EXPECTED, GOT NIL). nella versione 3.6 funziona perfettamente

LR4.1, as kindly suggested by Marlene, worked for me. Thank you too, Linnea, for your input - Steve Chapman

I've searched various discussions, forums, etc. and tried ways to solve the problem

I agree, Stephen, that it's most irritating that Adobe says the problem is solved, when it isn't for everybody. I didn't download the trial version of CS5 or CS6, but did download LR4.1 and that solved the problem of now being able to Edit in Elements9 and Nik Software. However, I discovered that I can't e mail an image from LR4, as one is supposed to be able to do. I haven't had the chance to call Adobe to ask about this and no one on the forum has yet to respond to my query about it.

I still cannot activate External Editor PSE10 from LR4. Using OS 10.7.3. Reluctant to try RC2 which seems, from the threads, to have other problems. It seems strange to me that Adobe can release 2 updated programmes designed to work together which don't. This problem is labelled 'solved' but it isn't. Some seemed to have solved it by downloading a trial version of CS6! How weird is that.

Running with 8 GB and still have significant performance issues compared to LR3

I've been following this thread for a while now. I have also had some problems with editing in applications like Nik Sivler Effex Pro. My problem had to do with memory. I was working on an old machine with only 2GB of RAM and no video card. Changing the bit depth of my screen helped some, but everything was still very slow. I recently bought a new machine with lots of RAM and a video card. Now everything seems to work well. I'm not suggesting this as a solution for everyone, but some of you may want to check the Task Manager to see how much of your memory is available for the application.

After installing RC2
Still have a 5 minute delay when I select edit with CS5.1 the first time after starting LR4.1. Subsequent edits work just fine. It's just the first time you select edit with.
If i exit LR and restart it I have to wait a another 5 minutes when I select edit with..

Also, I do not get the what to edit screen when I do an edit with on new files. It just opens up CS5.1
If I edit then save as and then edit again I get the what to edit screen. \

I do now see the LR tonal adjustment when I edit is CS5.1
