P: Edit In External Editor does not work/function

I can not send images from LR4 to any external editor via Photo>Edit In. My system is Mac OS 10.7.3. Using the Edit In command fails to open the external editor and no error message results. This occurs whether the images have the 2012 Process Version applied or not. My external editors are primarily PSE10 and Nik Silver Efex Pro 2.0. This is an important part of my workflow.

I have reinstalled PSE10 and updated to the newest version of Silver Efex Pro.

I'm on two of these strings. How did you find out there was a RC 2?

RC is "Release Candidate". They've released two of them now through the Adobe Labs.

"Release candidate was released a month ago."

No, Release Candidate 2 was released this week.

@901591 Williamson, In answer to your query: You are asked and you accept. What the criteria is for potential Champs is, I do not know. If I am guessing on this, I would say someone who has demonstrated knowledge in the product, a willingness to help others and fairly frequent participation-but that is only guess.

I'm also still having a problem editing in PSE10 through LR4. I can get other external editing products to work. I'm going to try reinstalling it to see if that makes a difference. By the way, what is RC?

I agree with you. There is no excuse for Adobe. As long as people jump on bandwagons with all hype and no substance Adobe will continue to ignore it's customers. It's about time customers wake up and stop supporting crappy products and uncaring companies.

OK, one final thing...I can't believe how many sycophantic Adobe fanboys there are trawling these forums. I've used LR since version 1.0 and it's been absolutely brilliant...until now. I give credit where credit is due and I've sent Adobe plenty of business in the form of recommendations to fellow photographers that have translated into sales. For goodness sake, this time Adobe has stuffed up big time - I wish people would stop evangelizing and apologizing on behalf of them for a bad product, a poor response to client complaints and atrocious PR.

There, I've got that off my chest.

I have to agree with John. The time taken to process jobs has effectively doubled for me. I haven't upgraded to 4.1 RC 1 or 2 because I'm waiting for everyone else to act as guinea pigs for Adobe and there's no end in sight. I'm willing to bet we get to RC 10 and people will still be finding problems. I've really been struggling with LR4 and, although I think PV2012 is a step in the right direction, there are far too many bugs and I've just (right now) decided to go back to 3.6, to stop further emails (I've had 495 from this forum since this problem began) and to reclaim lost time (I'm now often up editing until 2am). If anyone feels generous, please let me know when Adobe get a workable version.

Farewell, and thanks for all the fish!

Release candidate was released a month ago. Downloaded immediately and I still have issues.
Takes 5 minutes ( yes - I timed it) to open Photoshop (CS5) the first time after opening LR4.1. Over all performance is very sluggish.
Tone adjustments do not show up in Photoshop.

Not reliable enough for production work.
3.6 had none of these problems.
Been posting for a month now.
So what did I pay for? A beta version?
