P: Edit/Sync Photo changes the Capture Time.

I use Lightroom for culling through wedding photos, and as of yesterday's update, any time I increase or decrease the rating of an image (or apply any other kind of edit) it will add 4 hours to the capture time, therefore sending that photo to a random place later in the collection, only for me to find it again as I'm moving through. In fact, it just happened twice, as I edited a photo that had already been changed, and it added 4 more. What in the world??? This could prove to be exceptionally annoying.

Photos are syncing.

I can report a similar problem. I updated to v14.1 this morning and soon after noticed images "vanishing". I feared the worst for a while until I randomly rediscovered the images when scrolling back up through my Library. That's when I noticed that any file that had been synced since the v14.1 update had 10hrs subtracted from the capture date. I am in Brisbane, Australia, so I assumed it was a bug converting the times to GMT.  Incredibly frustrating. I've paused sync for now to kill the chaos. Hopefully a bug fix is provided asap!

In just had to test this on my W11.
I created a new collection, and added 4 photos. One was a virtual copy and two was not edited.
At first when the album showed up in Lr, the date/time was correct.

After some time I discovered that the capture time had subtracted 2 hours for the first and 1 hour for the last. To further complicate this, the virtual copy capture time is 1 hour later than the NEF file.
The first was unedited NEF, and the last was an edited virtual copy.
The two others - one edited and one unedited - showed the same time in Lr as in LrC.

I'm starting to have this exact issue. Windows Explorer is reporting the correct capture time, but for some reason Lightroom has decided to throw SOME images (all taken in the same session) 5 hours earlier. It seems to be at random. I've tried reloading the metadata. That hasn't helped. I guess this extremely old issue has never been fixed. But has anyone found any way to fix it on the client side?

Lately, I've noticed that when I edit a photo in the develop module, any editing causes the image to move to the end of the film strip. I have Sort by: Capture Date set in the Library module. When I switch back to the Library module to confirm that sort setting, the image is still at the end of the film strip. If I change sort to File Name, it appears in the right place, but back to Capture date it moves back to the end.

It seems that editing changes the capture date? (confirmed by going to Metadata>Edit Capture Time... and seeing the original capture date/time is the time of the last edit).

This isn't how it used to work, and certainly not desireable behavior. Have I changed a setting somewhere? How do I make this stop?

I'm using Lighroom Classic 14.1 on MacOS 15.1.1. I've attached a grab of the Library Metadata panel that shows the "Date Time Original" is now not original.

Windows user here. In LrC, I added some key wording on old vacation pics the other day. Some that were already synced had capture times changed by 75 hours (3 days, 3 hours into the future). Others by 80 hours, and others yet by 96 hours.

In the Lightroom Queen forum, there are offsets of +20 and +18 hours. I wonder if this is a bug in the LR Cloud servers, where the local time of the server is accidentally used instead of UTC. Presumably Adobe has severs located across the world (e.g. with Amazon Web Services), which would explain the variation in offsets.

Here is another issue of which everyone should be aware!! It puts a Reject Flag on photos that have been deflagged or rated. This is random, but I've come across this a handful or more of times in the last week.

That's the behavior I see as well. It happens w/some and not all. Very weird.

Hello John,

I suspected it was an issue/feature/bug with Lightroom. I have paused the sync. Is there a way to turn this off or is it better to just keep it paused? Also, I really don't want to take up all this storage so is there a way to see what photos are synched?

Thanks!!
