P: Hanging on launch (Mac 10.14.6)

I just upgraded Lightroom Classic from v 8.1.3 to 8.4.  It now hangs. I am on MacOS Mojave version 10.14.6. When reverting to v 8.1.3, Lightroom works fine. Are there compatibility issues with this version of Mojave? Thanks

Greetings all,

Our engineering team continues to investigate this issue. We are in need of a test catalog or two that is not launching under 10.14.6. Can any of you provide a catalog file that is not opening?

If you can, Zip the catalog and send it to me and make sure you reference this thread. Hopefully we can get to the bottom of the problem and issue a fix quickly.  Thank you.

When I open LR it just hangs and does not load the catalogue. If I tried to close it is just greys out and says it is not responding. If I open the catalogue on my second monitor and delete the lock file the files opens almost immediately, and then all is well. I was able to download the previous version without any problem but it did not solve the lock file problem.

Oh, and when you say you downgraded without success, you mean you had trouble downgrading? Or that it didn't help with this issue?

Can you run us through the exact sequence that gets it working for you Bill? The lock file is supposed to be created when LR is open, and then is supposed to disappear when it quits. But you're having to delete it while LR's partially open to get it to open completely?

I am having problems with Windows 10. I have downgraded without success and am now back to 8.4. If I did not have two monitors the second on which I open the LR catalogue so I can delete the Lock file things would be very difficult.

Lightroom opens properly but the catalogue does not open its sub files. I have the catalogue open on another monitor when I delete the lock file the sub files then load. Each time I open LR the lock file reappears and has to be deleted again to open the subfiles.

If I try to close LR without this procedure the black line appears and greys out and can then LR can be closed.

I have the same problem. Have just updated to MacOS 10.14.6 and LR 8.4 hangs (was quite ok prior to the Update). Reinstalled LR 8.3.1 and it works fine

Just reinstalled 8.3.1 and opened successfully. Have turned off LR auto-update for the time being.

I'm a me-too. Brand new MacBook Pro 10.14.6 Mojave, upgraded to LR 8.4 and program hangs repeatedly on start ["not responding" in Activity Monitor, etc. Rebooted, tested all systems, Disk Utility first aid, nothing works. Hours and hours spent trying to work-around. Will try to reinstall 8.3, fingers crossed.
