P: Hanging on launch (Mac 10.14.6)

I just upgraded Lightroom Classic from v 8.1.3 to 8.4.  It now hangs. I am on MacOS Mojave version 10.14.6. When reverting to v 8.1.3, Lightroom works fine. Are there compatibility issues with this version of Mojave? Thanks

Just found this thread after starting my own! (always the way)

I'm having the same issues and have gone back to 8.3.1 for now...

The add in I can give to the previous user (all the symptoms I'm seeing are the same) is that after about 30 minutes the memory used has gone to about 1.4GB.

I haven't seen any crash dialog but I opened a ticket with Adobe.
Once I click on reset preferences, I get the swirly wheel and the activity monitor indicates that LR is not responding

No dialog, it just hang there, with no response. already roll back to 8.31, when I finish working, will update again and screenshot.

Do you see any crash dialog from Mac or Adobe?

While Lightroom is in this state can you screenshot your Activity Monitor and post it here?

I have tried deleting preferences, uninstall reinstall lightroom, resetting lightroom. the new version just won't open my old catalog, which is working fine with 8.31. the problem is with 8.4

Did the dialog appear and did you hit the [Reset Preferences] button? That isn't clear from your response.

Same issue after holding down the Option/shift key.

same thing here, I have almost the same set up as yours, but I am on a Macbook Pro 13 (2016) eGPU RX580. After hours of frustration, I just roll back to 8.31.
This is an extremely bad experience, since I have auto update on, I had no idea the culprit was the damn new version, took me several hours trying to fix the problem.... lost hours of work time....
