P: Import is creating OS - level duplicate files named (-2) when using Devices rather than Files

Since I upgraded to lightroom classic from lightroom 5.7.1, imports are now importing duplicate images, even though I have checked don't import suspected duplicates. It happens on both my nikon and canon camera images.

@Rick Well I updated 6 days ago and I am on 10.1 and have this issue.

I would recommend your starting a new thread with complete system information and step by step instructions for reproducing your duplicated import. I cannot reproduce it on my end.

This is an old thread and likely unrelated to any potential issue you may be experiencing.

Rickk, I don't think this issue was resolved with v10.0, I'm still having the problem or variations of it. This problem is annoying. I hope that someone can get to the bottom of it.

Rikk, I was not having this issue until I updated to LR Classic 10.0. It's up-to-date.

But now I have the same issue. My CF Card only contains 1 copy of each image, but when I import via LR then it shows duplicates for every image, and imports them using a -2 at the end of the file name. I have to manually search for all imported images with a "-2" after import, and then delete them. When will this be fixed for good?

Bjorn_B,

Did you see Rikk's comment regarding whether the drive was formatted as "case sensitive"? Only applies to MacOS or running a virtual instance of Windows under Linux.

This has not been fixed.  I'm using the 10.0 version and this has happened to me twice this week.  Just moments ago, in fact.

@Rikk , I have used the Rename file function for years, to avoid duplicate file names. Many cameras start file naming over for every 10000 images (_DSC1234 og DSC_1234).
Lightroom Classic and predecessors have always treated duplicates reliably for me. I appreciate this function so much.

I have experienced significant problems with duplicate file names when helping people locate missing/offline photographs in catalog. I am running a Norwegian user support group with 7000 members.
