P: Issue with Map module in OS X 10.10 (Yosemite)

On OS X 10.10 (Yosemite), the map in Lightroom's Map module is very slow to load. It takes several minutes before the first part of the map appears, and some parts don't load at all, saying instead "Sorry, we have no imagery here", even though the part in question is on Google Maps. When zooming in or out, it's the same, it takes very long to update.

Is there any clue as to when this might be resolved?

Dave & others, we share your frustration. The issue is that the code that manages the HTML/JavaScript rendering comes from another team which has been disbanded. We've replaced this with a newer renderer for the next major release, but it wasn't possible to back port it to 5.

Ok Just tried on a 3G USB iPhone 5s rubbish 3G here however the navigator panel was almost instant and the search for an area worked most of the map came on maybe 30 seconds or so i could not achieve a blue tooth hotspot

As mentioned usually on ethernet Sky (no infinity in my area) so about 9Mbs up 1 mbs down

Google maps load very fast if not through LR5.6

Also tried it with the 2012 MacBook Pro Retina switched to the NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M 1024 MB video card. Maps remained crippled.

Julie, appreciate a response finally. however it is very very disappointing that software under subscription still exhibits a problem reported 3 months ago!!

see attached about my Mac but i really really believe it is related to users with relatively low broadband speed and the enormous amount of upload / download that goes on when trying to display a map! what is LR uploading / downloading (apart from the map which Google does on my iMac in under a second ! )???

My 2008 Mac Pro has the standard issue ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT 256 MB.

My 2012 MacBook Pro Retina is using the Intel HD Graphics 4000 1024 MB

Both worked fine with LR 5.6 under OS X 10.9.5

We are still investigating this, but no solid leads yet as to what changed in 10.10 to upset this, sorry. I'd appreciate hearing what video cards are in the systems that are running into this, because we're finding it inconsistent across hardware but haven't found the pattern yet.

Mark

I tried your 'solution' and sadly it did not work for me, however I use VMWare not Parallels, maybe that is the difference?

The only thing that consistently works for me is plugging my iPad that has 4G (15mbs download and 5mbs upload) and using it as a usb hotspot, a Map Module works absolutely fine then!
