P: Lens Corrections defaults not correct if Previews are "Embedded & Sidecar"

I'm testing with a Canon RAW files from a EOS 7D with EF 70-200 L IS USM lens.

I have set the Develop Default Setting for this camera to enable "Remove Chromatic Aberration" and "Enable Lens Corrections".

1) When I import the files and have Build Previews set to "Minimal" the 2 check boxes ("Remove Chromatic Aberration" and "Enable Lens Corrections") are checked and the correct Make, Model and Profile are found.

2) When I import the files and have Build Previews set to "Embedded & Sidecar" the 2 check boxes are checked BUT Make, Model and Profile are "None". HOWEVER if I click on the photo, go to the Develop module, click on a different photo in the filmstrip then click on the original photo the correct Make, Model and Profile are displayed most of the time.

I also noticed if I click Auto tone or if I adjust a slider and then hit Command-Z then the correct Make, Model and Profile are displayed.

Note: The team can no longer reproduce this issue. Is anyone on this thread still able to:

  1. Reproduce?
  2. Provide Files that will reproduce?

Pavan, the issue is still present in LrC 9.4 as demonstrated in my video from one year ago at the below link. I just retested Canon EOS 5D MKII and 6D CR2 files, but any Canon CR2 file should exhibit the issue. Please follow the procedure I used in the below video. If you still can't duplicate the issue I'll upload files to Dropbox. Keep in mind you must have 'Enable Profile Corrections' set to checked using the new Default Develop settings for the camera model you are using in Preferences> Presets tab.

@todd_shaner_6660895 Hi Todd, I tried to replicate this behaviour with several files on 9.4, but couldn't. Could you please share a couple of test files on which you can definitely see the issue (if it still exists in 9.4)?

Same behaviour for me with LR 8.3.1 (Windows 10) - bunch imported files from Canon 60D, Canon EF 50 mm F1.4 lens. Some of the images (from a panorama sequence shot with exactly same settings) display error "Unable to load profile" and don't display camera profile. In Develop, unchecking and checking again "Enable profile corrections" correctly assigns profile. Side effect of the bug: when merging images to panorama, warning is displayed that  Lightroom is unable to perform lens corrections due to missing lens profiles.

Chinoy, it appears to be a general issue. Here's a video of an import using Embedded & Sidecar previews with LR 8.2.1 on Windows 10 ver. 10.017763. Please let me know if you need any other information.

Hi Todd,

Are you seeing this issue on some specific set of files or is it more general?

Rikk on my Windows 10  ver. 10.017763 system with LR 8.2.1 import using Embedded & Sidecar Previews the Lens Proilfe is not applied when switching from Library to Develop module and applying Basic panel Tone edits. However, if I switch to the next image file and back it is applied.
Also randomly clicking on thumbnails in the filmstrip in the Develop module causes some image files to have the Lens Profile applied, but not all. It's very random with no specific pattern I can determine.
Even hitting the Develop module Reset button with defaults set to apply Lens Corrections doesn't work. It remains as below.

Can anyone confirm this behavior still exists in 8.2.1?

In the discussion of the original topic, it looks like the cause of these symptoms is the same, using embedded previews.
