P: Merge to HDR and Panorama doesn't work

On a regular basis, I merge 5 bracketed shots from my drone.  In the older LR, this operation took about 1 minute or less.  I could "batch" 5 operations at a time and have them all done in about 3 minutes or less.

With the newer, faster, more awesome (and likely soon-to-be-deprecated) LR, it simply won't do anything.  I was lucky and had one HDR to work, but I've tried countless others (one for nearly two hours) and nothing happens.  The progress bar makes no progress.

I'm really worried that this important feature is simply victim of a bug.

Anyone else having issues?  Adobe, what's up with this??

I'm using a medium-powered PC that has never had problems with merge before.

I have

6.1.10

According to the System Info (pasted below). I don't see how to update to 6.14, when I tried to update Adobe gave me a trial version of 7.2

The trial version has the same issue as far as I can tell.

How do I convince it to update to 6.14? Is 6.14 the same as 6.1.14?

Thanks

If you have this issue on 6.1? Or 6.10? Then it’s a slightly different issue, as this one started due to some change in 7.0. For a start, update to 6.14 which is the latest version, and then if you’re still seeing issues, post a thread and include the contents of Help menu > System Info and a bit more information about what happens when you try.

I'm using LR 6.1.10 though, not 7, and I would like to continue using LR 6. This used to work with this version of LR. Is there some way to get a fix so I can do panoramas again?

Alex,

We have made some changes to the queuing logic which would make this config changes unnecessary for version 7.1 onwards.
If you are already on version 7.1(or 7.2), you would not need to create the config file.

I'm even more confused than when I started. How do I go about just "creating a file"?

Off topic, not related to other merge issues observed on Lr Classic.

Please reference the new conversation here: Panorama image fails to import

I, too, am having this issue. Have Macbook Pro, 16 GB. Just installed High Sierra 10.13.3.
Have Lightroom Classic CC 7.1

When I create a panorama, it successfully shows preview, then goes to 'creating panorama' mode and spits out this error:

Failed to import the final merged result from /Volumes/Seagate Backup Plus Drive/PHOTO-DB/CAMERA/2016/DEC 2016 - UTAH/IMG_4012-Pano.dng.

This is with as little as 2 pictures.

Do you think it could relate to an external hard drive that's not High Sierra compatible? Or something funky like that?

This error shows up if either the input image set is not valid HDR/Panorama set or any of the settings merge settings is incompatible for the images.

Try the following things to debug:
  • Check if the images and their type(not a mix of formats like JPG, DNG etc) are compatible
  • Tweak the settings for merge to remove any incompatible merge setting.

With LR Classic 7.1, on MacOS 10.13.3 (High Sierra), I receive:
I did the bit with the config file but to no avail.

If that's too small I can recreate the recording, just let me know.

Thanks for offering to help.
