P: Merge to HDR and Panorama doesn't work

On a regular basis, I merge 5 bracketed shots from my drone.  In the older LR, this operation took about 1 minute or less.  I could "batch" 5 operations at a time and have them all done in about 3 minutes or less.

With the newer, faster, more awesome (and likely soon-to-be-deprecated) LR, it simply won't do anything.  I was lucky and had one HDR to work, but I've tried countless others (one for nearly two hours) and nothing happens.  The progress bar makes no progress.

I'm really worried that this important feature is simply victim of a bug.

Anyone else having issues?  Adobe, what's up with this??

I'm using a medium-powered PC that has never had problems with merge before.

Screen recording

I have a recording, not clear how to attach it here. It's a Quicktime screen recording.

When I try a merge the preview window appears, I then click on Merge, LR seems to proceed as it used to (this used to work for me) but after it seems to complete there is no image available in the catalog. I can't find any new file wherever I look.

Any suggestions on how I can upload a Quicktime movie?

This config flag is introduced and applicable only to Lr version 7.0 onwards.

Does preview window show up when you apply merge operation on the selected photos?
It would be helpful if you can share a screen recording of the issue to help us debug.

My LR version is 6.1.10

I don't know what steps by Hamishl you mean I should follow, I did create the config.lua file and added the line suggested.

I also tried resetting preferences which seemed to be suggested in a post by Hamishl but that did not help (seems to have messed up other things, now I can't get the System Info display to work).

Has Adobe dropped support for LR 6.1.10? I see you mentioning using version 7.

Matt,

You can follow the steps shared by Hamishl's to check if you are missing anything while setting up the config.lua file.
Btw, if you are on Lr Classic 7.1 you would not need setting up this config. Lr 7.1 already takes care of this.

I tried this and while I do see this in System Info

Config.lua flags:
Features.disableGlobalTaskManager = true

it still does not produce a merged photo.

Any other ideas?

Jeremy,

The path for your system would be 'C:\Users\foxy\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Lightroom\config.lua'.
In 7.1 version, we have made some changes to the queuing logic which would make this config changes unnecessary. So, you would not need any changes if you are on version 7.1.

I cant figure out how to do this rite my path is different from everyone else's

Application folder: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Lightroom Classic CC
Library Path: C:\Users\foxy\Pictures\Lightroom\Lightroom Catalog.lrcat
Settings Folder: C:\Users\foxy\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Lightroom

and when I add the file in nothing happens

I have created  "config.lua" file and can see the new entry in the "System info". No good - HDR still doesn't work. I also reset the preferences. Also no change 😞 I'm on Windows 10.
