Hi,

Try disabling the home screen in PS.

Problem:Opening light room and clicking "edit in Photoshop" causes a photoshop that cannot be used to edit an image, everything is grayed out. The only current solution is to open photoshop first, lightroom second, then press "edit in Photoshop" so that I can use it.

I'm afraid there are no more testers at Adobe. We are the testers.

I think I know what happened during testing.  Testers turned off the home screen to speed startup.  They missed the problem.

UPDATE UPDATE

It's buried in a reply further up the conversation so I am reposting here so everyone can take advantage of it. The fix is to go to Preferences - General settings, select Disable the Home Screen

That's it - if you Disable the Home Screen, the problem goes away and you can open LR and PS whichever way round you choose.

Erick,
If the Home Screen is enabled in PS, try to disable it. If this doesn't work, try to launch PS first before trying to edit from another program.

Since the recent update to Photoshop CC and Lightroom Classic CC I've found that almost all the commands in PS are greyed out, can't even duplicate layer. A few days ago, suddenly allowed me to edit, but again, can't edit.

Please help.

P.S.: I am using Win10

Using the Edit In Photoshop command from LR Classic CC, layers and some commands are inoperative in Photoshop (latest 2019 version) if it was not already open. It all works fine if Photoshop is already open. Running Windows 10 (1803, fully patched).

Confirmed. Disabling the Home Screen fixes the problem.
