P: Slow UI when using Mac and Custom Display Profile

Hello,

Since upgrading to Lightroom Classic v10.0, all UI-related functionality is painfully slow. All editing functions are working correctly and quickly but scrolling through the catalogue or even scrolling a side panel is taking many long seconds to refresh. Unreasonably long.

Disabling GPU Accellaration has no affect on my Lightroom's performance.

macOS Mojave 10.14.6

Mac Pro (Late 2013)

3 GHz 8-Core Intel Xeon E5

32 GB 1866 MHz DDR3

AMD FirePro D700 6 GB

@photostudiotnk

Maybe you can suggest Voodoo in place of calibrate to sRGB specifications then load not that profile 😄 😄 😄 😄 😄

That you don't understand the simple process of calibrating to sRGB using an existing sRGB profile doesn't make it Voodoo. It only shows you don't understand basic color management.

@photostudiotnk  you will be able to explain how "calibrate to sRGB specifications then load not that profile" that is independent of LR, can have any effect on LR 🙂

Calibration targets match sRGB; simple. I'd set cd/m2 to the spec too, about 85.

So dear @andrew_rodney when you write:

The solution that seems to work for most is calibrate to sRGB specifications then load not that profile but the sRGB installed by Adobe, maybe lower the display resolution too. At least the display calibration and that profile should provide decent previews and color managed. What software you use to calibrate and the instrument you use will play a role. Once the bug is fixed, go back to the original workflow for the display/profile.

you will be able to explain how "calibrate to sRGB specifications then load not that profile" that is independent of LR, can have any effect on LR 🙂

So making a calibration, fully independent of LR and then NOT using it solves the issue?

Maybe you can suggest Voodoo in place of calibrate to sRGB specifications then load not that profile 😄 😄 😄 😄 😄

Sure, but you can't edit on your iPad in your car! (There's no Cloud feature, don't want to give that up).

As your are not an Adobe Employee, it is your own belief and opinion.

As someone who’s worked directly with the Adobe engineers on this problem, it is both a fact, belief and opinion, as others here who have done the same can teach you.

Andrew is correct, they do know what changed, but simply rolling back the changes wouldn't solve the problem. You can do that yourself by rolling back to 9.4. This problem runs a lot deeper and clearly isn't easy to fix, or they would have done so already.

It is like Adobe is clueless as to what they changed from 9 to 10.

Utterly wrong assumption! They know and are still working on it. Making up stuff and posting it doesn’t help anyone.

Let's leave the setup to Adobe @photostudiotnk. As long as it works, I could not care less. C1 is nice, but, not for people using a large number of images in a catalog. Like any such app, C1 has its own issues...
