P: Slow UI when using Mac and Custom Display Profile

Hello,

Since upgrading to Lightroom Classic v10.0, all UI-related functionality is painfully slow. All editing functions are working correctly and quickly but scrolling through the catalogue or even scrolling a side panel is taking many long seconds to refresh. Unreasonably long.

Disabling GPU Accellaration has no affect on my Lightroom's performance.

macOS Mojave 10.14.6

Mac Pro (Late 2013)

3 GHz 8-Core Intel Xeon E5

32 GB 1866 MHz DDR3

AMD FirePro D700 6 GB

Just adding my voice to the conversation.

late-2015 5K iMac

4Ghz i7

24GB RAM

Radeon R9 M395X 4GB

Mojave 10.14.6

Terribly slow UI throughout.  Scrolling grid view in Library is painful.

When you stop scrolling takes a few seconds to update the shooting info displayed around the thumbnails.

Basically doing anything is just laggy.  Opening the paint brush for keyboarding...slow. On and on.

I'll be rolling back to 9.4 before my next shoot unless new version is out.

Also enabling or disabling GPU acceleration makes no difference

I am also experiencing the slow scrolling issue after upgrading to LR 10. I am on a maxed out 2020 iMac with Radeon Pro 5700 XT 16GB. It is slow and painful to navigate through my catalogs this way. Downgrading to 9.x until this gets sorted out.

I am also experiencing this after upgrading. Specifically, LRC10 is experiencing a delay when switching between photos in the Library Loupe view.

It appears tied to the zoom level:

  • When the zoom is set to 100% or greater, the performance is normal.
  • But when zoom is below 100% (whether a preset value like 50%, Fit, Fill, or a custom value like 71.2%), it takes 3-5 seconds to switch between photos, and the spinning beachball appears.

Other notes:

  • Slow down (with beachball) also happens when shift- or command- selecting multiple thumbnails in the Filmstrip
  • This issue happens with files that LR9 handled nearly instantaneously, and that are pre-rendered 1:1 previews.
  • Other parts of the UI (dragging sliders in Develop) are not impacted.
  • I do have an older, but still supported, video card. Changing the "Use Graphics Processor" (Preferences >  Performance) setting from the default Auto to either Off or Custom doesn't resolve this.

 Thank you.

My system: OS 10.15.7, on Mac Pro (Late 2013) 2.7 Ghz 12-core Xeon with AMD FirePro D500 3GB, 64 GB RAM.

I have the same problem with LR 10.0. Each click needs 1-2 seconds until I can see a reaction and the pictures don't load immidiate and first have a grain overall the image. With LR classic 9.4 I did'nt have any problems too! It's impossible to work with the new release and culling and organizing pictures is a pain. I hope too, there will be a solution soon. Thank you!

To add I can confirm that (after trying what someone mentioned earlier) resizing the Mojave Lightroom window to make it smaller (like half the size) makes it run much quicker in the Library module, otherwise I get 1-2 seconds lag between each image click, and scrolling is very laggy and jerky.  Hope this helps your engineers in fixing the issue.

I tried Onyx when I first had this problem, it made no difference. V9 worked great, v10 now has an extremely laggy and slow (almost unusable) catalog/library interface. It's clearly a software issue.

Same problem for me since v10. The library module and generally navigating the catalog is almost unworkable running on Mojave, everything on SSDs, 16GB RAM, 12 cores. Was totally fine on v9. Contacted support and they asked me to import some images into a brand new catalog, same problem, even with just a few images catalog is extremely slow/laggy.

"Open in Low Resolution" is not available in Mojave. If it is then it is some where other than in Get Info. Or, maybe on certain hardware configurations.
