When setting the WB of a smart preview (original placed in an external HDD and disconnected), the photo turns turns very greenish.

I have been able to reproduce for Sony A7III raw files with 2 specific lenses (with a different lens it works fine):
- Sigma 50mm F1.4 DG HSM Art 018.
- Sony FE 25-105mm F4 G OSS.

Steps:
1. Import Standard + Smart Previews.
2. Place original in external HDD.
3. Disconnect HDD.
4. Select photo and develop.
5. Set the WB (from menu or modify any slider).
6. It turns very greenish.
7. If the HDD is connected back, the photo turns OK.

Any news on when this issue is going to be resolved?

Are you saying that if you, for example, have photos in LR on one computer, apply a filter on it, and THEN Create Smart Preview, it screws it up?

So a better way would be to:

1. Import Photos
2. Generate Smart Previews
3. Apply Filter separately on the other computer on the Smart Previews.

Is this right?

Has this still not been fixed?

Just completed editing a wedding that was sent to me in a catalogue with smart previews.  Asked the sender to not label any files green.  I didn't have any issues.  So I have narrowed the issue down to the use of filters and smart previews when the images are not on the same hard drive.  The green filter is obviously the main culprit and switching back from Develop to Library although as I've mentioned previously, the red filter and blue filter have given me some not as dramatic issues.  Would love to hear back from a LR rep regarding this as I am unable to color filter images to show a client.

I did not want to argue, blame,... Just to know if there are plans to fix it and have a clear view of what to expect.

I am Adobe CC Photograhy plan subscriber since June 2014 and, since then, I rely my bussiness on Adobe. I am afraid this is going to be an inflexion point to open my mind to different solutions...

Thanks, Rikk.

It has been 6 months since the bug was raised.

As many others, I am a Lr pro user and this is not a minor issue for me. Believe me when I say that I would change all the new features that have been added since then with just one: fix this bug.

Is there any timeline to fix it?

Again, thanks,
Miguel

I was excited to see an update for LR today - but unfortunately the invasive inky green previews issue still exists in catalogues with Smart Previews even after updating.  I would be happy to send a catalogue with the issue to a LR rep if it would help diagnose the problem.  While working on a catalogue with Smart Previews yesterday I was working on a file highlighted with a red filter and the image next to it started getting a magenta opaque strip through the center of the thumbnail and image in Develop and Library.  Also had a similar issue while working with a file highlighted blue.  A related image turned solid blue over the people in the photo but not the background in Library module. Only way to make it go away was to crop the image which seems to temporarily cure the problem for some files.

Unfortunately, no. This bug is still open in our system.

Hi Rikk,

I believe an update has just been released. Does it address the bug?

Thanks,
M

I have a theory that this has something to do with selecting a photo with a colored filter.  For example, the person that has been sending me catalogues to edit selects a few favorite photos by highlighting them green before he makes the catalogue.  I've noticed some funky behavior in the catalogues he sends me  when viewing a green highlighted image then jumping over to Library or Develop.  That's when the problem seems to start then jump to more images.  Once this green file issue starts it's tough to get rid of - but sometimes changing the color profile from Adobe Standard to something else then back again helps (sometimes).  Also, making some adjustments such as changing the crop can (sometimes) help - at least temporarily.  I wonder if anyone else experiencing this issue has clicked on an image highlighted green then switched modules then noticed the problem start. It either has to do with color filters or color profiles,  Anyway, it's a theory.  Grasping at straws for a reason and hoping for a solution or workaround.  Can no longer show images to client in Library module because the problem has become so widespread and getting worse.  At least in Develop module I can click on the image and the green goes away after a couple seconds (but if I switch to Library the green is still there on that image).
