P: Subject Mask from previous versions are requesting an update

After updating Lightroom Classic to v14 and converted my database, all the edited photos that had a "Subject Mask" applied now have an empty mask with a warning and exclamation mark (!).

If I let Lightroom correct the mask pushing the exclamation mark on a single photo, it seems the correct subject is selected, keeping the edits. If I do the same with multiple photos together it appears teh usual form that tells that the AI masks are recalculated, but at the end all the masks are still empty with warnings.

@piotrs58332425

You will need to upgrade your catalog again. A copy of your catalog from the first 14.0 upgrade is stored in the "Old Lightroom Catalogs" folder.

I don't understand this workaround provided by Rikk. After new version installed I got one question to upgrade catalog - so I did. After restart all my AI masks are gone. How can I force Upgrade catalog again?

I edited a large number of photos with the prior version using Lightroom Classic.  The edits used Remove with AI.
I updated Lightroom Classic to the latest version and I see all of my edits require updating.  I tried selecting all of the photos in the Library module and selecting Photo-Develop Settings-Update AI settings and it tells me it is updating AI settings and may take some time.
When the minutes pass and the percentage reaches 100% I am left with the photos that have not changed.
However, if I go to each photo and press Ctrl-Alt-U (shortcut key for update AI) it works.  Do I have to go through all of my previously edited photos and pres Ctrl-Alt-U on each photo?
Help!!!!

Even I update all masks, if I try to export the image, all updates are lost.

@phil_0541 If you need to do new edits then Update Ai and check the before and after.

If not keep the current Ai and forget about updating.

Unfortunately no filter in LrC allows to find Ai Masks that do not have the latest ModelVersion nor it has ever provided that kind of info in the Ui.

That kind of search can be done with the Plug-in I mentioned...but it's not so straightforward.

I have in mind a Plug-in that automatically apprends the model version to the Ai masks, or at least a codifed one.

E.g.

Sky v.2023

But I never kept track of the release dates of the new model versions all these years.

Cordialement, D

@C.Cella Thank you for your explanations. Not sure I'm gonna check several thousand images! I prefer to wait for a more permanent solution - and after all, it may come from Adobe. Luckily I made a Time Machine backup just the day before the new version of LR, so I'll remain cautious and do as little processing as possible before I get a solution...

@JohnnyBeBad I think I'll try that tomorrow, at least it doesn't look too risky

In my case, I didn't have to update masks - I have many photos with AI masks, that would took ages. But for some reason, as described in my previous msg, after I closed the lightroom, it never prompted me again for this. I checked older photos, no issues with masks either. So after restore of catalog, repeating the upgrade (and breaking masks again) and then immediately closing the lightroom after it completed (without touching any settings at all), all went back to normal for me.

@phil_0541

Very simply the new Ai Selection might not be as  good as the previous one(s) after after "Update AI Settings".

So to be sure one should check the before and after having updated Ai.
