P: Subject Mask from previous versions are requesting an update

After updating Lightroom Classic to v14 and converted my database, all the edited photos that had a "Subject Mask" applied now have an empty mask with a warning and exclamation mark (!).

If I let Lightroom correct the mask pushing the exclamation mark on a single photo, it seems the correct subject is selected, keeping the edits. If I do the same with multiple photos together it appears teh usual form that tells that the AI masks are recalculated, but at the end all the masks are still empty with warnings.

Please post your System Information as Lightroom Classic (LrC) reports it. In LrC click on Help, then System Info, then Copy. Paste that information into a reply. Please present all information from first line down to and including Plug-in Info. Info after Plug-in info can be cut out as that is just so much dead space to us non-Techs and it takes up vast amounts of scroll space making the reply less readable and less likely that others will bother with your post. Also large amounts of text in a post also render the Translate function inoperable...

P.S. I do not have this issue, I went and looked, nope, not a problem on my rig. (WINDOWS)

Alright, I can confirm that this is indeed the case and Lightroom is now forcing a manual update of ALL IMAGES THAT HAVE A SELECT SUBJECT MASK.

This is an absolute disaster. Adobe, why do we need to manually update all of our masks one by one??? And how are we even supposed to tell which images have masks that need to be updated and which don't? I have hundreds of thousands of images in my Catalog and thousands of select subject masks, scattered amongst hundreds of folders. Are you expecting us to now go through our entire catalog and manually re-render everything before our next export?

Is this the intended UX here?

As usual to find photos with Ai Masks use "Any Filter" Plug-in by @johnrellis

.Regarding updating Ai DO NOT do it blindly and keep working after.

After Updating Ai check if actually the selections are good, becasue they might be worse than before

I have hundreds of Images on which I can't Update Ai Settings becasue it means getting worse results.

Yikes. Thank you for the warning and hopefully this isn't a bug that affects all users, because if it is that's going to be a massive nightmare for everyone.

in the future, to find the best place to post your message, use the list here, https://community.adobe.com/

p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post (like this one has already been moved) if it helps you get responses.

Hi,

I cannot help it, but the new update "cooked" my previously done edits to my photos. Not sure if it is the update to 14.0, however, I noticed it afterwards after booting LR today and after the update.

Certain edits I did, seem not to exist anymore or the program/update removed them.

I noticed a red dot under the masks though.

Anyhow, pretty concerning and making me questioning the further use of the product.

Anyone else noticing something similar of suggestions on how to solve this?

Best.

I may add that the preview icons in the bottom film roll look as the old photo/edit, but once I click on the photo (in develop mode) the photo and the preview changes to (another) look. I am getting really nervous.

I can't comment on 14, but red dot under the masks button indicates that the mask need to be updated.  'Update AI Setting's can be found under the Develop module Settings menu.
