A serious issue with corrupted catalogues in Mac-OS

Lightroom Classic shows a message “corrupted catalogue” but is unable to restore (the system stalls). This is a very serious bug for a software that I use since years and >100.000 photos. Getting earlier versions from the backup does not help.
I am using the latest version of Lightroom Classic and the latest Mac-OS operating system on a desktop Mac.

If both your current catalog is said to be corrupted and also all your backups, then that does not sound like a bug in Lightroom Classic, but more likely a disk problem. On what disk does the catalog reside? Internal, external? You may want to try to open a backup catalog (don’t forget to unzip it first, you would not be the first person trying to open the zipped backup as catalog and get this error as a result) that you’ve copied to another drive.

(next time, if you have a question or report about Lightroom Classic, please post in the Lightroom Classic forum, not here)
