P: (android): Unable to edit raw files on smartphone Sony XZ

On my Smartphone (Sony XZ, Android 8.0.0) i only can edit jpeg files.

If i try to edit an raw file (from my Canon D550 or my Sony RX100 III) the app starts downloading the image and then freezes up completly.

Is there any solution for this problem?

Hi Kai,

We had a server side deployment which has fixed the issue with profile. Let me know if you are still facing issues.

Hello Arnab,

Did you change something? I can no longer reproduce the issue.

The only change on my side was the xperia system update (41.3.A.2.128) I received two days ago, after I send you the catalog and the images.

On all affected images only the Adobe Standard profile was applied.

Hello Kai,

Can you please let me know that do you have profiles applied on all these problematic images? If yes, are these mostly DCP profiles?

Well now that we are sure that the issue is with some develop settings, I would request you to please provide couple of stuffs:

Please provide diagnostic logs from your device. Steps to generate diagnostic logs is mentioned below
  1. Enable the Diagnostic mode i.e. Go to Settings Panel and long press on top left “Lr” icon (this will enable “Send Feedback” button on Settings Panel).
  2. Now reproduce the issue and soon as you encounter the crash, reopen settings panel and tap on “Send Feedback” button at the end.
  3. Within few seconds the sharing sheet will open, send across the logs. As the logs will be sent in a separate thread, please point it to me / provide a summary of the issue (it will help me in tracking).

Also can you please provide few of the error prone images to us in a separate catalog? We will try to replicate the issue and find the root cause here. Process to create a catalog from LrCC Classic is mentioned below:
  1. In library module, select 5-6 images which are causing the crash.
  2. Go to File->Export as catalog.
  3. Make sure ‘Export selected photos only’, ‘Export negative files’ checkboxes are selected and click on ‘Export’ button.

Appreciate your patience and support while we investigate the issue.

Regards,
Arnab

Probably you're right with your guess. With a new RAW image imported directly into LR CC it worked correctly.

The images i used before were developed in LR 5.7, then i updated the catalog to LR Classic and migrated it to LR CC. Maybe this information is useful.

Cool, this indicates there is some issue with syncing of the image. So can you please try importing a fresh RAW image from any other client than Android (like Lightroom CC (Win / Mac) or Lightroom Classic CC or https://lightroom.adobe.com) and see if the issue exists for all RAW images or not. As I guess some develop history might be causing the problem here.

The issue doesn't occur after disabling WiFi/cellular data.

Thanks for the information. Can you please try marking the album for store locally and then open the image in Edit room after disabling the WiFi/cellular data. This will indicate that the issue is related to sync or not.

Arnab
