P: Camera Matching profile not honored for unedited but synced images?

If I import images to LR Classic and choose a synced collection in the import dialog, then those unedited images show Adobe Standard as profile in LR CC (desktop and mobile on iPhone and iPad). In LR Classic it looks like they have Adobe Color applied. The profile in LR CC changes, if I do some edits like auto tone in LR Classic.

Adobe Standard is set as profile in LR CC as well, if I reset all edits of a synced image in the develop module of LR Classic. LR Classic still shows Adobe Color in the profile menu, but in LR CC it is Adobe Standard.

Since I thought it might be related to a previous issue of mine, I tested four RAW files from three different cameras: Olympus OMD E-M1 MkII, Pentax K-x (native PEF and out of camera DNG) and Hasselblad X1D. I can reproduce this with all files.

Is that a bug or feature?

Hello Rikk, the image above looks like LR Mobile on iPhone. There is no problema for profiles on iPhone, it just happens o iPads. Besides that you are talking about custom profiles witch also have no problems on import to Lr iPad. The problem is standard Camera Profiles, for some reason they are behave differently from other custom profiles. I can send you the same files I sent to Adobe support. Is there a direct e-mail to send the link?

Thank you,

Christian

@chrismaldonado Yes Camera Standard is available for every camera (that I've tested) that have them available on the desktop. I don't have any Hasselblad files to test but if you want to use www.wetransfer.com to uploads AT lightroomqueen DOR com to send me an original file (shoot a blank sheet of paper would do!), I'm happy to try it on mine.

Hello Victoria,

I'm always following your website, thanks for the interest.

I'm using standard Camera Standard profile for Hasselblad X1D and X1DII. I will test with a Sony A6000, but reading threads here and before Adobe's support answer it is not related to my camera in particular, but to any camera. If you can see any Camera Standard profile on your Lr on iPad please let me know.

Can you confirm which camera profile specifically you're trying to use? And which camera?

I am seeing no issue with the profiles syncing from Lightroom Desktop to iOS.

Make sure you are looking in the Profiles section - highlighted here:

The two files in Profiles represent custom DCPs created for a Canon 5DMarkIV.

If you send me an image file and a copy of your DCP Profile I would be happy to troubleshoot.

Hi Rikk, yes I did what Johan suggested by Adobe's support own suggestion before, but only worked for other profiles and presets. Not with camera profiles. And I understood that it happens to any camera. I learned from Adobe that Lr Mobile on iPad does not work with any original camera profile(it looks like it is different for iPhones).
My camera profiles are ok in Lr Desktop, Lr Web and Lr Classic. But there is no way for them to show up in Lr Mobile.
I got a Adobe Support help, including sending a few Raw files from my camera to Adobe and their final conclusion is in the end of this post (copied if their e-mail).

It looks like we have to wait to get Camera Profiles on iPad. For the moment it is a deal breaker for professionals who prefere their Camera Profiles. Some adjustments made with Adobe Color profile looks good on iPad but get totally distorted when I go back to LR Desktop or Classic and put the Camera profile back in the image.
Reading other treads in here I see people complaining or asking about it since 5 years ago. It looks like Adobe is not looking on it at all.

Thank you for paying attention on it! And if you help to pressure Adobe to fix it you will be the hero of this saga.
Cheers,

Christian

Dear Christian,

This email is in regards to the Camera Profiles for Hasselblad not showing in Lightroom Mobile ,This is for now by design and we have checked at our end also so for now Adobe Color would be working and will be Auto applied on images.

You can raise a feature request at

https://www.adobe.com/products/wishform.html

So that this could be added in future releases.

Johan's suggestion to bring the profiles into Lightroom Desktop and allow them to sync to Lightroom Mobile will likely solve the issue.  Have you tried it?

@Johan_Elzenga , should be the explanation but this only apply to custom ou 3rd party profiles or presets. The original Camera Profiles of each specific camera does not show up in LR Mobile on iPad. Adobe support confirmed to me that this is a limitation of Adobe regarding the LR Mobile on iPad. They said Adobe Color profile will be automatically applied as standard profile for any raw image, then you can choose and apply other profiles/presets, but not the original camera profile. I hope they fix it soon.... but I see here that this problem is there since the beginning. I use Hasselblad X1D and X1D II, those cameras have very special native profiles, so, when I edit on LR iPad it is like a draft and not a final adjustment because when I go back to Classic I have to change the profile back to camera and re-adjust all the adjustments I made in the iPad... not very good workflow for me....

Lightroom Classic does not sync profiles to the cloud. You will need to get them into Lightroom Mobile via importing into Lightroom desktop. Could that be the explanation?

Hello, Lightroom Mobile for ipad needs to work with original camera profiles. Some cameras has special information embeded in the files that must be read by it's specific profile. The Adobe Color profile automatically applied to the images changes the look of the image and makes the adjustments useless when you go back to the original synced image on LR Classic.  It is necessary to apply again the original camera profile and some of the adjustments made will look different. This is not acceptable for a professional workflow. Please fix it soon, professionals are using iPad Pros and need pro workflows. Thanks
