P: Can we have a toggle on/off button for the snap to center while cropping image?

I have the same issue on my mobile app. And I too worry about an upcoming paid shoot and feel I have to pause posting photos because I can no longer crop them as I want to.

And with a toggle on/off, I hope the default is off, as most people using Lightroom would be serious and skilled enough to want to have total creative freedom when cropping their images.

The new alignment lines in Lightroom mobile is absolutely useless and is way too strong. I can’t fine-tune my crop anymore and move it slightly left or right, because it’ll just get dragged to the middle again. Absolutely useless function and just gets in the way of the workflow.

Also, while I’m complaining about the crop function - can the crop ratio be locked by default? I’m sick of having to second guess whether my photo is correctly 3:2 ratio or did I just free crop it because I forgot to lock the ratio. Make default setting an option and don’t just assume all users want the same.

Thanks for developing the app, but it still needs a lot of work fixing things that were never an issue years prior.

I'm having this same issue with Lightroom mobile with a red  cross appearing when trying to move the crop around, that forces it to snap to the centre. This happens with the lock feature both locked and open. I don't know if it's a bug or if it's supposed to be that way, but I really hope it gets fixed back to how it was before. How it is now makes the app basically unusable for creative and/or professional photography because you can no longer choose yourself which part of the image is within the crop/frame.

I completely agree with this. This is an incredibly frustrating change, and I genuinely don't understand what problem it was supposed to solve.

The whole point of cropping is having the freedom to decide how the final image is composed. I don't always have my subject centered in the original frame. Also, in many cases I deliberately want it offset to one side. Before this update, I could simply position the crop wherever I wanted. Now, the red vertical and horizontal lines and the automatic snapping to the center of the original image make that unnecessarily difficult, or even impossible

As a photographer, this is not just a minor inconvenience. I have paid photography shoots coming up soon, and I'm genuinely considering cancelling them if this behavior remains, because I need to be able to crop my clients' images freely and precisely. I cannot have Lightroom effectively deciding where my crop should be placed, especially when composition is an important part of the final image.

Please give us an option to disable this feature. If people want their crops centered, they can choose to center them themselves. We shouldn't be forced into it.

Could not agree more! This new feature has more than doubled my edit time for my most recent event. Being an action sports photographer, cropping is a core part of my workflow and this new snapping effect means instead of moving my selection freely I have to back and forth with opposite corners. Totally inefficient. I will never understand why a feature around such a core function is not introduced more softly or at the very least given an on/off toggle. I am dreading editing the three events I am covering this weekend unless this is fixed rapidly. Genuinely the kind of change that forces me to consider alternative products. I cannot afford to have a significant part of my workflow double in length.
