P: Captioning forces title case on iOS.

When entering metadata in the iOS/iPadOS app, the text field for "caption" forces the text to be title case. I assume this was something intended for the Title field, but it's hugely irritating for the caption field.

You should see a fix in our next app release, next month.

Excellent, thanks for passing this upstream. Users are really looking forward to this one finally being fixed.

Thanks for your feedback.  I have passed your thoughts to the engineering team.  Just wanted to let you know.

This can only be a Bug; alternatively it is poorly-written code.

A. Why does Lightroom capitalize every word of a title, by default? Capitalization should be at the user's discretion.

B. Even more annoying, and rather incorrectly (hence the irritation), why does Lightroom automatically capitalize the first keyword when entering a comma-separated list? Adobe will say 'it's an iPad thing', yet it can be over-ridden with code as other apps do not auto-capitalize the first word when entering data into a field with iPad.

So, Adobe, how about putting some effort into not auto-capitalizing data entry.

- Title will continue to be autocapitalized by word

? But that was the original bug report - that LR was autocapitalizing by word. That's the behavior we don't want (I can't speak for everyone- does anyone reading this want this behavior?), and that was fixed in 10.0, right?

To be clear, that is inconsistent with desktop. And
titles are not headlines! The current behavior makes a mess of titles we enter from the mobile side.

Are you 100% sure this is intentional behavior from Adobe, but on mobile-only?

Double-checking now, I see that the Caption field is behaving, but the Title field is still initial-capping every word.

The other confusing thing is that it *was* fixed in 10.0 - I confirmed the fix elsewhere in this thread! But now the strange Title casing behavior originally reported is back.

Hello @scot.hacker

I am seeing the same behavior that shipped as a "fix" in v10.0.  Here are the new rules:

- Title will continue to be autocapitalized by word
- Caption and Copyright will switch sentence
- Keywords will have no rules

I see this still in v10.3, so nothing has changed or reverted back since 10.0.

If I am missing the point, perhaps screenshots or a screen recording would help make your point clear.

Kind regards,

Charlie D

While this bug was resolved in v10, it seems to have come back in v10.2 or 10.3 - I am again seeing the behavior I reported originally.

To reiterate, changing the global iOS setting is not a desirable solution here, as that messes up the first character of everything else you do on the device - writing texts and emails for example.

Can we request that this regression be fixed again please?

With the release of LrM 10.0, this issue should be resolved.

I just upgraded to iOS 18 with the latest iOS Lightroom. The title case problem went away. Hurray!
