I have the following problem. Lightroom app on my dekstop does start up, but if I select a random photo and then click on it to enlarge it, Lightroom closes immediately. I uninstalled and redownloaded it but the problem remains. I do not have this problem in the online photo editor Lightroom. Does anyone know a solution?

Greetings all,

Updates for the Adobe Photography Products are released.  The August 2024 updates contain an update for this issue.

If you do not see the update in your Creative Cloud Application, you can refresh it by hitting [Ctrl/Cmd]+[Alt/Opt]+[ R ].

Note: It may take up to 24 hours for your update to be available in your Creative Cloud app.

Thank you for being so patient.

Sorry for the late reply, but yes disabling the GPU worked for me too. Thank you.

I removed your email.

I also logged a bug for investigation.

Since the crash occurs only with GPU enabled, a trip to your GPU card's website for a fresh driver might be in order.

@Gijsbert35833270t28k

We’ve reviewed the email address you use with this forum and find no crash reports in our system.

Did you see a crash dialog?

Do you use a different email address when filling out the crash report?

Was the crash dialog Adobe’s? Microsoft’s?

The symptoms you describe are consistent with a GPU failure. If you disable the GPU in your preferences. Do you continue to see the crash?

Hello Rikk,

Thanks a lot for your answer.

Yes, i see a crash report (Adobe, and it was also sent via Lightroom); below this message the crash report.

I do not use a different email adress when filling out the crash report. The email adress i'm using is the same as my account/login: <removed for privacy>. I have just (re)sent the crash report below.

I cannot find (GPU) preferences in my Lightroom desktop version (7.2)

Best regards, Gijsbert van Dongen

Edit > Preferences on the Performance Tab and set to "Off"

BTW - Posting of crash reports in a forum thread makes the thread difficult to read and does not offer nearly the same practical value of submitting the report via the reporter. I've removed your posted information.

I've located a report from you at 10:25 that I will review with engineering.

It would still be nice to hear the results of your GPU test.

No answer, similar problem here. I tried the same things as you. Is this the same error/crash report you get too? I also reverted to previous versions of the desktop app, and reverted my windows update too - nothing helped so far.

Hello Breanna,
Thanks. It appears that it is the same crash report. Unfortunately the problem is still there. Hopefully there will be a solution.
