P: Cursor is replaced by Zoom tool intermittently.

Liebe Community,

Nico

Same here, Mac OS 15.0.1, Lightroom Version 8.0 arm64 (Oct 3 2024). Getting stuck with the zoom cursor and need to restart the application, before I can use remove tool or masking.

I have seen this happen but haven't been able to figure out the steps to reproduce it. In my case, I moved quickly between the Remove and Masking tools - at least I think that was the trigger - but it's not consistent. At any rate, we're grateful to anyone who can help offer clues as to what they were doing directly before this happens.

I'm experiencing the same issue (macOS 15.0.1 on 2021 14" MBP w/M1 , Lr 8.0). When it gets into this "mode" the mouse only seems to act as a zoom control (little + magnifier). It's impossible to crop, mask, select white balance, remove/clone/heal... effectively anything that makes the mouse pointer change behaviour. The only remedy is to restart Lr.

Have tried the suggested fixes (reset settings, GPU etc.) to no effect.

This is a mouse pointer issue of some sort, new to 8.0.

Thanks,
Eric

Ive had an issue with the white balance picker tool for years! Every so often when I choose it, and go to use it, it gives me the zoom tool and no matter what I do, I cant pick the white picker tool, it gives me the zoom tool everytime!

This tends to start happening when I import a large number of high res pics, say 400 - 500 and the first 30-50 or so grade fine (I build a present, then copy it to images and tweak accordingly). Once it happens, I have to restart Lightroom and then can sometimes do anything between 10 - 50 images again before the issue reoccurs.

Its been listed on this forum previously and someone posted with a similar issue just recently. For reference, this was in Lightroom CC 5.4 and just upgrade to 5.5 and has occured for the last few years repeatedly and every upgrade, I hope its a bug thats fixed but always returns. I even reformatted this PC last year hoping to fix it!

You have posted in the wrong forum. THis is the Lightroom Classic forum, but your question is not about Lightroom Classic. Please post in the Lightroom (ecosystem) forum.

Both operations are GPU-dependant.

What is the Mac OS Version Number?
If you go to Preferences>Performance how is your GPU configured?

MAC OS Sequoia 15.0.1

Use GPU: automatic

The best next step is to attempt a reset of your preferences.

This procedure works for both Lightroom Classic and Lightroom Desktop.

If you are using Lightroom Desktop, it can change your local storage location. Please review this setting after resetting preferences.

Reset Procedure:

1. Close Lightroom.

2. Hold down [Alt/Opt]+[Shift] while restarting Lightroom.

3. Overwrite the Preferences when prompted by the dialog.

4. Close Lightroom.

5. Restart Lightroom.
