P: Export -> Original + Settings not working for TIF or JPG Files

Using Export -> Original + Settings for TIF or JPG files is not exporting the develop settings - in a readable fashion.

I export from Lightroom Cloud Desktop and then import the exported file into LRC (I'm looking to backup my cloud images). On import I do nothing but move it to a new folder.  There are no edits picked up from the file. This is for Light adjustments eg exposure, contrast or applied crops.

If it then use lightroom Desktop Local to browse the file it too does not pick up the edits. I re-exported the file from lightroom cloud and just viewed the file with the desktop local mode without importing into LRC and the same issue - no edits applied.

Looking at the exported files with exiftool they appear to have the edits listed - so I am totally lost as to what the problem is.

Note. I have set up a dfferent LRC catalog that syncs with the Cloud and for the same image the edits are correctly applied. Also viewing with Local mode works too.

Help!

Hi @CMass

Thank you. I hope it is looked at with some urgency as it is a significant issue.

Hey @dragondart

I see what you mean. May I ask what versions of Lightroom Classic and Lightroom are you using?

Thanks for responding @CMass

So I have a serious problem now. I tried archiving the images (Archive Album Locally) and then reviewed the archived files using Lightroom desktop local mode. The edits were not visible!

Therefore I have no way of getting my .TIF or JPG files out of the cloud with data intact.

Exporting Original + Settings does not work - edits / crops are not readable by Lightroom or LRC

Archiving - edits / crops are not readable by Lightroom or LRC

Syncing with LRC - edits / crops are readable but color labels / keywords / location data are not

So which ever approach I use I loose work. Also I have no way of making my own backup of my cloud images as the sync approach doesn’t work (labels, keywords and some other metadata such as location as not sync’d and exporting + original doesn’t either - although for different reasons..

As a further test I delered from the cloud and then reimported the original .TIF and .JPG files with their edits and crops (done in LRC at some point). All the edits etc were visible as expected in  lightroom desktop. I then exported orignal + settings without making any changes in Lightroom and on viewing the exports with local mode none of the edits were visible. So the act of simply importing and then exporting "stripped" the edits.

I am running Mac OS 25.2 and the latest versions of Lightroom Desktop 9.1 and LRC 15.1.

Hi @CMass

Some additional research. I used exftool to extract the metadata from a version of the file that viewed correctly (sync'd) and one that did not  (original + settings) and apart from some "explainable" differences one difference stood out. The file displaying edits had "-AlreadyApplied=False" while the one that did not had no such field. I then used exiftool to set the tag AlreadyApplied to false. And then the edits displayed correctly. Therefore the issue seems to be that when using Original + settings that tag is not being set.... Is this a bug - certainly looks like it.
