P: Lens Blur "Refinement Error" when adjusting Focus Range on the latest version of Lightroom Mobile (Samsung Galaxy A25 5G)

Device: Samsung Galaxy A25 5G

App: Adobe Lightroom Mobile (latest version downloaded from the Google Play Store)

Subscription: Adobe Lightroom Premium

Issue: Lens Blur opens and works normally. I can adjust the blur amount, bokeh shape, and all other settings. The preview is displayed correctly.

However, when I adjust the Focus Range (depth range) and tap Apply, Lightroom always displays the following error:

"A refinement error occurred. Please try again."

The effect is visible in the preview, but it cannot be applied because the refinement process fails.

I have already reinstalled the application, and the issue persists.

    Hey, @Admirable_fashion9f9d, @social_Moonbeamddae, @Playful_coder8d60.

Do you also use Lightroom on any other surfaces, and Lightroom Classic? Do these images appear normally after a while?

Record your screen when you see this issue, and share the video with us. Also, please follow the steps here to generate and submit diagnostic logs: https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom/mobile/get-started/generate-and-share-diagnostic-logs.html

    Thanks!

Attached is the screen recording. I have also sent a diagnostic report. I don't understand your questions about using LR on any other surfaces or whether they appear normal after a while?

Hi @skilled_impression4105, It sounds like you might have a similar issue to this one:

Can you confirm what you’re seeing? As requested by our Community Expert, it would be helpful to see screenshots or screen recordings. Thanks! ^CH

Hi @SJMM363, thank you for sharing! We have had similar reports with the Blur Function not working as desired. Would you be able to send the Lightroom version and OS information? This will help us with our investigation. Thanks! ^CH

Hi @Lovi.09 and @funny_differencee495, Thank you for the report! Our team is aware of this issue and is investigating it. In the meantime, here are a few troubleshooting steps that may help:

    1. Ensure a stable internet connection: Lens Blur refinement relies on cloud processing. Try switching between Wi-Fi and mobile data, or connect to a stronger network.

    2. Retry the operation: The error can be intermittent. After dismissing the error, try tapping Apply again (it may succeed after a few attempts).

    3. Clear the app cache: Go to your device's Settings > Apps > Lightroom > Storage > Clear Cache, then reopen the app and try again.

    4. Update to the latest version: Make sure you're running the most recent version of Lightroom from the Google Play Store, as fixes are continuously deployed.

    5. Try a different image: In some cases, certain image characteristics (complex depth maps, thin foreground objects) can make the refinement more challenging. Testing with a different photo can help confirm whether it's image-specific.

If the issue continues after trying these steps, please don't worry- a fix is in progress. I appreciate your patience! ^CH

Thanks for the comment, @social_Moonbeamddae. I've checked the account you signed in with in the Community, and I couldn't find an active subscription. Features like Generative Remove, Lens Blur, Adaptive Presets, and more are premium and require an active Lightroom subscription.

Also, the Samsung A35 comes with multiple variants having 4-12GB of RAM. Depending on the specs, the way Lightroom handles Lens blur can change.

    Thanks!

@Sameer K I do have an active Lightroom subscription but may be registered under <redacted PII> ? The entire reason I got the subscription was to use lens blur so its frustrating that it is not working. Mu phone model is SM-A356E/DS

Hey, @Playful_coder8d60. Welcome to the Lightroom Community. I'll need more info to help you figure this out.

Does this happen when you work on specific images? Have you tried working on a different internet network?

Please share more details, such as the Lightroom version, the specific device model, the mobile OS details, & video recordings of what you see.

    Thanks!
