P: LrD v9.4 on macOS crashes, or does not launch

I’m trying to open the Lightroom desktop app on a 2021 Macbook Pro. It looks as if the app starts to open, but then crashes immediately. I’ve tried restarting my laptop, uninstalling and reinstalling lightroom, and signing out/signing back into the Adobe Creative Cloud app. I’m still able to access other Adobe products on the laptop, it’s just Lightroom itself that’s unable to open. I can’t provide any screenshots, since the app itself won’t open.

It’s not Lightroom Classic, but the new Lightroom app.

Hi All! We are aware of a crash issue with Lightroom v9.4 caused by permissions problems in macOS folders. Please follow the steps provided here to manually resolve the permissions issues affecting Lightroom's directories: http://www.adobe.com/go/lr_user_permission_issue

If it does not help, please upload & share the Lr Console log by following these steps on macOS:

Hold down the Option key in the Finder when using the Go menu. The Library will appear below the current user's home directory.
Library > Application Support > Lightroom CC > lrcc_console.log

The lightroom CC folder does not appear on my library, only Lightroom AMT, lightroom is still not working for me.

Hi @julibedoya , thanks for reaching out, and I am sorry for the inconvenience. This is still a known bug, and our team has worked on a fix that will be released soon. In the meantime, I recommend uninstalling and working from an older version of Lightroom on your Desktop. You can uninstall and select a previous version through your Creative Cloud app. Thanks for your patience, and we hope to get you back to editing soon! ^CH

Facing the same issue with LR 9.4.1 not launching. I revert back to an older version, 9.3.2 and it works When I launched the application, I received a message about “File rights to be fixed”. I accepted the message. LR 9.3.2 works. I reinstall LR 9.4.1. And Problem come back !!! Adobe support that means that LR 9.4.1 SW tree is the source of the PB. I’m not a computer scientist and I expect an app which will not ask me to go and manipulate File and folder right…. Thanks to fix the Pb that I can enjoy the latest version (That I pay for).

The application refuses to launch on my macbook. Nothing happens when I click the icon. I have tried everything to try and launch the app but thing works.

Possibly found my problem. When manually going to adjust file/folder permissions as suggested, I discovered I don’t even have a Libraries/Preferences/Adobe/Lightroom folder…! Where did it go???

Installed the 9.4.1 update when it came out. Last couple of days, Lightroom CC 9.4.1 won’t open!!!

Leading up to this, the last few weeks it had become slower and slower. Problems exporting, adding more masks, sliders would be stuck to previous adjustments, slow or sticky previews…

I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled twice with no change. Creative Cloud is up to date, and doesn’t show any updates needed for Lightroom.

I’m running it on MacOS Sequoia 15.7.7

Upgraded to Lightroom CC 9.4.1 when it first came out. Over the following weeks, it began to get slower and slower - troubles exporting, adding masks, sliders sticking from the previous adjustment, previews not loading…

Now, Lightroom will not open at all!!!! I uninstalled/reinstalled and still won’t open. The app icon just bounces slightly as if trying to open, but nothing happens.

I’m running it on MacOS Sequoia 15.7.7.

Sorry I should have specified. Lightroom Classic v15.4.1 opens - but I’ve been editing on Lightroom v.9.4.1 and this version is no longer opening on my Mac.

Have you just upgraded to LrC V15.4.1?

Many people report that letting LrC run overnight (one person required 12 hours) and LrC opens and runs properly after that.
