P: Photos Washed Out with New iPhone

I'm feeling discouraged, as purchasing a new phone is a big expense, and now I have a problem I can't fix (yes I've called Adobe). With photos taken with my new iPhone 16, after automatically importing in the Lightroom app, when clicked on, the photo changes without being prompted to do so. A twirling icon pops up and voilà the image becomes washed out, and ruined. When I look at the image in my iPhone library it's fine. I've tried everything.....called adobe, painstainingly combed through settings...even went to AT&T just in case they could help me. The problem is we PAY for Lightroom and Adobe customer service is not helping.

@happy_artistry4734

There was an issue with iPhone 16 HEIF images.  Can you help us understand what you're seeing by answering some questions:

  • Are your images captured with the iPhone camera, or Lightroom's in-app camera?
  • what file format are you using for capture?  HEIF, DNG, JPG?
  • In the Lightroom app Settings, under Import, do you have "Adobe default" set under Raw Default Settings? (this would apply settings to DNGs or other Raw images you import.
    • Do you have some custom Preset applied that might be affecting image appearance?
  • What specific device and iOS version do you have?

It might help if we can see your workflow.  Could you possibly share a screen recording showing your steps, your export settings, etc.?  How to: https://support.apple.com/en-us/102653

Before doing the recording, it would help if you could enable Show Touches in Lightroom's App Settings > Input

I'm still having a problem with this. I take a photo, and when I go into Lightroom to edit, there is a SIGNIFICANT downgrade in quality. I thought this was supposed to have been fixed. What am I doing wrong? This is frustrating.

Greetings all,

Adobe Lightroom Mobile product updates are released.  The December release updates contain a fix for this issue.

Updates will be available via the Apple App Store. Note that it can take several days for some customers to receive a notification of an available update via their App Store.

Thank you for being so patient.

Above all, I don't understand why the problem to be solved is on Apple's side when the problem only exists with Adobe.
And why it took so long.
We're paying for a faulty service. And no solution has been offered.

The LR iOS developers were able to develop a patch for this that will ship with the next app update (~ mid-December), and Apple should still release a fix at some point to address the core issue.

Just tested this using my iphone16pro on my iPad and the same issue. I never noticed it because I always immediately edit these images but yeah as imported on heic and proRAW images, the gamma appears too low.

On the iPhone 14pro I also take photos in helf format and when uploading the photo to lr everything is fine. 14 iPhone is not updated to the latest version of iOS, I'm using 17.6.1

Hello. Version ligtroom 10.0.2

I have already uninstalled and installed the application several times. The image is in HEIF format, it is in this format that the problem with photos occurs. There is no such problem in JPEG format. There is enough free memory on the device, 270Gb. Yes, my device syncs with iCloud. I am attaching 2 photos. The image on the left has just been loaded into the program, the one on the right is ready for editing. I hope I have answered your questions in sufficient detail.
