P: Brush roundness appears at 0% when opening at Options bar

When opening the Brush tool at the Options bar, roundness appears at 0% with any brush. It works when fixed, but as soon I open again, it returns to 0%. It's not the case when opened with the brush panel at the left, there it works fine.

Same here - it’s crippled my business with this latest bug

Same for me, it's been 2 versions of Photoshop Beta with this bug — I had to go back to the classic Photoshop.

Adobe team, please fix this bug ;-)

Issue Description:In the latest Photoshop (Beta) version, there is a bug with the brush tool. Even if I set the brush roundness to 100% (a perfect circle), the moment I right-click on the canvas to bring up the brush preset picker window, the brush roundness automatically flattens to 0%.

Steps to reproduce:

1.Select the Brush tool and set roundness to 100%.
2.Right-click on the canvas.
3.The brush immediately turns flat (0% roundness) in the brush menu.

Note: This issue does NOT happen in the official Photoshop 2026 release, and clean-reinstalling / resetting preferences does not fix it. It seems to be a bug specific to this Beta build.

Using windows 11. Since the last update in Ps (beta). The soft round brush & hard round brush turns into a straight line brush? I always use beta version, as generally prefer it as it has all the latest stuff on it. Having to use std version as the brushes are very important. Can you please sort this ASAP. thank you.

Out of all the bugs we could experience while using Photoshop, it had to be the Brush Tool, the one thing we use constantly. Seriously, why this of all things? This is so frustrating. SMH.

Whenever I am using a soft round brush, in any tool… dodge, burn, sponge, paintbrush, and attempt to change the size of the tool, it immediately changes from round to 100% flat

See before and after image attached below

The brush tool has been resetting the roundness. At first it was every time that I used the brush tool but I was able to reset or put it to it’s default setting, and that cleared up some of the bug. Right now, if I press B or activate the brush tool via the toolbar, it functions normally. The brush window also functions normally.

But the roundness resetting issue persists in two areas:

  1. Right clicking, when using the brush tool, shows the brush tip roundness changed to 0%. I can manually pull it back to 100% and use it at that level. Another right click and it’s back to 0%.

  2. Similarly, when I right click (as described above), the top of the Options bar also shows that the brush roundness has changed to 0%.

I’m attaching video to show the behavior. Notice how the brush roundness reset the instant I right click or use the options bar. I am using default brushes.

In the latest 2 updates to Beta, whenever I try to change the hardness on a brush the brush roundness defaults to 0 creating an extra step in my workflow to set it back to 100 where it has been forever. I change brush hardness frequently so this has become very annoying and is slowing me down. This happens when changing brush settings using the shortcut control click on a Mac. It also happens in the brush settings in the layers panel. I can't seem to find a workaround. Please look into this

Photoshop starts with brush round but right after first right click (and each every next click) Roundness resets to 0% and brush appears flat.

Photoshop Beta 27.11.0, macOS Tahoe Version 26.6.2 (25G83)

Already did Settings Rest (Command+Option+Shift on start) - doesn't help.

Upon opening PS beta, the brushes are flat in profile. I can change its roundness and use the brush with the adjusted settings. If I change the size or any settings in the ribbon menu or on-screen right-click, it opens as flat again. This occurs on most brushes I have, all the General Brushes, but not on a few like Kyle’s Paintbox - Wet Blender 50, and Kyle’s Real Oil - 01, A couple of Kyle’s Wet Brushes are flattened like Kyle’s Ultimate Inking Thick and Thin.
