P: Lightroom Classic>Edit in PS: Long Delay+Erroneous Error Message opening Ps Beta 2024 25.0

I just recently updated Photoshop Beta to 2024 v25.0 on my Windows 11 machine.

Now when I try to open photos from LR 12.4 using the "edit in...", it hangs up for a time and then comes up saying "The file could not be edited because Adobe Photoshop 2024 could not be launched."

When I hit "Ok" it then opens the file in Photoshop 2024.

This happens with every file, even if Photoshop 2024 is already up and running at the time.

This does not happen with 2023 v24.7.

To fix this, revert back to previous version: Steps: On Creative Cloud > Bet Apps > Photoshop Beta > click the tripple dot > other versions > revert to 24.7.

(Apparently: version 25 has bugs when editing as Tiff from lightroom)

Photoshop Beta v. 25.0.0

Lightroom Classic 12.4

Mac OS 13.5

NOTE: I have deleted and re-installed both versions of Photoshop and Lightroom as previously suggested (more than once).

Edit in Photoshop (Beta) not working. App opens but nothing happens.

Quitting Photoshop Beta results in this error in LR:

"File could not be edited because Adobe Photoshop Beta could not be launched."

Incorrect; it launches but nothing happens even after waiting about one minute.

However, if I click on OK in the error dialog box, Photoshop Beta launches with the targeted file.   A workraround I guess.

FWIW, I also get a persistent message when quitting LR: 2 photos are still syncing with Lightroom.

I am also having this exact problem with Lightroom 12.4 and Photoshop Beta 25.0.0. It started when I updated both Photoshop and Photoshop Beta to the current versions a few days ago. I'd like to add one additional bit of information. I tried switching back to the regular Photoshop, and the same thing happens, so this problem is not specific to the Beta version. It would be great to have a fix for this as soon as possible. It makes editing in Photoshop extremely tedious.

I was having the same issue today, with both the Beta and 24.7. I removed the Beta from my computer because I am and just wanted to work with the stable release instead since I am not finding the generative AI that useful for my work right now. Anyway, when I went to export, I ran into the same issue. Re-installed the Beta, same issue persisted. I then went back to 24.6 and then it started giving me all sorts of errors and it told me a driver issue with my graphics card. I updated my driver for my graphics card and now everything seems to be fine with 24.7, I haven't tried beta, but I assume its probably fine now too. I have an ASUS Proart studiobook with a Nvidia 4060 (Windows 11), so if you have a 4060 Nvidia graphics card, or just an Nvidia graphics card, try seeing if it needs a driver update and if that works for you.

So for me, all I needed to do was update my graphics card driver.

Go back one version in both Ps and everything works fine! Has already been written x times in this thread.

We need to confirm OS used:  Windows 11

Additionally, are you using the default Edit In PS?  Yes, happens with both "Edit in PS" and with "Open as Layers in PS"

Hope y'all can fix this very soon!

Hello. Do we have an update for this? It's frustrating already. We have work to do.

I had/have the same issue.  Using an OS system and doing the click on image to "Edit in Photoshop".  Uninstalled the Beta to go back to Photoshop 23 and now LR will not let me choose Photoshop as a preference to edit in.  HELP!  How do I get back to what I was doing before I downloaded the Beta?

hi ! You can open images by using the export fonction of lightroom, but it is still an issue as it is the ONLY way to open an image from lr to Ps it is still not possible for me to open it as layers or anything els... if saved after processed, the image will be stored in lightroom but before the prepocessed image...it used to be stored after. I hope it will help, and  Adobe will find a way to correct this

It's not a LRC problem. It's a problem with PS 25.0 beta. If you uninstall that and reinstall 24.7 beta, you'll be fine.
