P: Lightroom Classic>Edit in PS: Long Delay+Erroneous Error Message opening Ps Beta 2024 25.0

I just recently updated Photoshop Beta to 2024 v25.0 on my Windows 11 machine.

Now when I try to open photos from LR 12.4 using the "edit in...", it hangs up for a time and then comes up saying "The file could not be edited because Adobe Photoshop 2024 could not be launched."

When I hit "Ok" it then opens the file in Photoshop 2024.

This happens with every file, even if Photoshop 2024 is already up and running at the time.

This does not happen with 2023 v24.7.

Here is the solution that worked for me.

From Creative Cloud App (click on three dots>other versions), installed previous version of Lightroom Classic 12.3

Installed previous version of Photoshop 2023 V24.6

Open photoshop 2023 first.

Open Lightroom and photos can now be opened in PS 2023.

Thanks to all those who suggested to revert to the previous versions.

Some of us have been using Beta for months now and not had a problem. To expect people to go back to the older version of PS without Generative Fill is NOT HAPPENING. We know what the word Beta means. We just want the problem fixed or a solution. 🙂

I did a brief search and found answers related to earlier versions of PS but not specifically the beta version.

I had the same issue - Lightroom refers to the beta version as Photoshop 2024 and the release version as Photoshop 2023, and I couldn't change the preferences to specify the latter. After uninstalling and reinstalling the Photoshop release version (keeping my settings), as suggested somewhere, Lightroom allowed me to select one or the other to edit files in, and after closing and restarting Lightroom editing worked as before. I've disabled auto-updating of the beta version in the hope that this will prevent the problem from recurring.

I am also having a problem opening a file in PS Beta from Lightroom on Mac.  I cannot even access Adobe Cloud apps to try to uninstall and reinstall or revert to an earlier version.  I am logged into Creative Cloud. but nothing happens when I click on open apps.

I started having the same issue, getting the error:

The file could not be edited because Adobe Photoshop (Beta) could not be launched.

I've followed your recommendations several times; uninstalling LrC and PS & reinstalling them (PS first). They are installing direclty from the CC app, so both apps indicate they are "Up to date".  It will initially work for the first photo you try and "edit-in" from LR, but does not work for subsequent photos.  I've tried it at least 3 times, adding additional steps like shutting down my Mac once the software has been uninstalled, etc. Nothing works. Super frustrated.

Go to Adobe Cloud and check your applications. Next to PS on the right you see 3 dots. Click on the 3 dots and then click on other versions and there it shows you the previous versions you can then install

I really don't feel like uninstalling LR Classic - kinda stressful.

Same with me. Solution, Uninstall LR Classic and Photoshop 2024 (beta)  Re install Photoshop 2024 (beta)   latest version, then re install Lightroom Classic Version 12.1. No more errors  👍
