P: Photoshop Beta Generative Fill produces different colors at the edges of the selection.

When trying to add additional areas to the edges of an image using Generative Fill, it creates mismatched colors at the junction of the new and existing parts. It deviates slightly from the original areas, resulting in a grid-like pattern in those areas where new parts were created using the Generative Fill option, even if I fill them with 1024x1024 pixel sections.

 

I have already uninstalled the app and reinstalled it, but the issue persists. I am using an iMac Pro running Ventura 13.3.1 system.

    For me "on a mac" using sRGB colorspace from "European General Purpose 3" instead of my usual Adobe RGB and just restarting seems to solve the mismatching colors as a temporary fix. So the document can keep the original profile but just work in sRGB...

      Im seeing a differance in sharpness, its not picking up the grain of this old sepia photo.

        I'm experiencing a little bit different issue. Content is generated fine and merging with the scene, but the whole area has shifted colors.

          Hi @CShubert ,

          yes, I know it. Unfortunately, I cannot use generative fill in other bigger colorspaces, cause the blending is of and probably part of the process is using the sRGB on adobe servers anyway. This is still a bug.

          @Radim5EBC we want to make sure you understand that converting a file from ProPhotoRGB to sRGB means you are throwing away colors since the sRGB color space is smaller.  While it is fine to do this if you intend to, converting BACK to ProPhotoRGB will not put those colors back, they are gone and they cannot be recovered.

            hi @Marion26879791nit1 ,

            the work around I use now, when external editing photos from LrC to PS beta 25.0:

            in both LrC and PS I have colorspace set to prophotoRGB, external edit via 16bit tiff, no ZIP compresison

             

            once photo is opened in PS, I go to edit -> convert to profile, select sRGB

            generative fill works for me, even the color blending

            once the edit is done, go back to edit -> convert to profile, select prophotoRGB, then go again to edit ->assign profile - working RGB : prophotoRGB

            ctrl + s

            and I have it back in LrC

             

            Maybe others will find this workaround useful too.

                the same problem here images don't fit in with the other where the image and ai joined, everything worked fine before the update.
