P: Reference image upload not working in Photoshop Beta 26.11

Hi everyone,

I’m having an issue with Photoshop Beta version 26.11: the reference image upload feature (used in Generate Image / Generative Fill) stopped working.

What I’ve tried so far:

  • Uninstalling and reinstalling Photoshop Beta;
  • Updating via Creative Cloud (currently on version 26.11);
  • Testing in different files/projects;
  • Checking system permissions.

None of these worked.

System configuration:

  • OS: Windows 11 Pro 64-bit
  • GPU: [insert your GPU model, e.g. NVIDIA RTX 3060]
  • RAM: [e.g. 16 GB]

Is anyone else experiencing this issue? Is there a temporary workaround or is Adobe already investigating this bug?

Thanks,
Jobson

The reference image is not in Photoshop, so I've moved your post from Photoshop to the primary thread in the Photoshop Beta forum. See the pinned reply from Cory that says the feature was pulled and the team is working on updates.

The Photoshop team will post in this thread when they have an update.

Hi all, sorry about that.  This feature was pulled and the team is working on updates, so we will notify you when this is available.

Sorry for any confusion.

Thanks,

assuming photoshop...

in the future, to find the best place to post your message, use the list here, https://community.adobe.com/

p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post (like this one has already been moved) if it helps you get responses.

@JAIMES RECORDS PRO

Reference images are not (yet) available in Photoshop; they are only in Photoshop Beta.

I've moved your post (again) from Photoshop to the Photoshop Beta forum.

I just downloaded that update and only the Firefly Image 1 and Firefly Image 3 options appear, Firefly Image Model does not appear.

Even though I have tried everything, every method and watched every video, even though I have selected the object with the selection tool, the reference photo insertion button remains off. How can I open this, please help urgently.

Hi @Ya??z_Yava?5869! Thank you for reaching out, and welcome to the community!

Your system information would be really helpful in getting a better idea of the situation. In Photoshop beta, go to Help> System Info> Copy and paste the contents into a text file and attach it to your response.

Try this:

1) Make sure everything is updated, including the application and the OS.

2) Choose the "Firefly Image Edit" as the Firefly model for gen AI (screenshot for reference).

3) If the above doesn't work, try resetting your preferences, but first, be sure to back them up. This HelpX article has steps and more info on Preferences in Photoshop.

Let us know how it goes!

Cheers!

Start Creative Cloud Apps,  at the right you can see Photoshop Beta, and selecting "..." you can choice "Others Versions", select 26.10.

I got the same problem. Please suggest me the way to install the immediately previous update.

What I have done is uninstall the current version and install the immediately previous update (it is still 26.11)
