I think the support for Intel GPU was enabled after 26.7 or 26.8 Beta. 
You need to install the latest driver. Let us know if it still doesn't work.

I haven't updated to the latest Ps production release. I didn't want to risk the Remove Tool not working there. I use that system to record my Ps 'how to' videos for my YouTube channel and I have all kinds of 3rd party plugins in it. Some of which I literally would never be able to reinstall again...not to mention all my UI customizations. I can't be uninstalling and reinstalling that production release....

So any experimenting with next gens of Ps I do, unless I know a release is positively, bullet-proof stable, I do in the beta on my laptop. It's why I bought the laptop.  I have the beta only on my laptop and the production release only on my desktop - both Win 11 (desktop is Pro, laptop not), both NVIDIA (desktop = 5090, laptop = 4090) processors & both Intel CPUs of different generations, I keep both beta & production Ps releases purposely segregated.

My last Ps beta version that had a working Remove Tool was 26.6. I just updated from it on Aug. 1 to try Harmonize. And, encountered all the Remove Tool issues detailed above...

Moments ago - just to cover all the bases - I tried the Remove Button in the contextual taskbar in the 26.10 beta. Same experience as with the Remove Tool... I can go through the motions of tracing around an object to select it (I used the Selection Brush), seeing the colored overlay laid down around the edges of my object and it fills in the interior of the object once I close the selection loop as it should. But, as soon as I hit that Remove Button I get the exact same error msg I made/posted a snip of above for you & Cory re: the program not recognizing a Remove function. It's pretty puzzling and frustrating... I'm not a tech person, so I just try to be "scientific" and try narrowing down all the possible troubleshooting steps I can think of or find via Web searches. I'm hoping for an expert Adobe dev to 'drive' my laptop and figure it out. I've done multiple uninstalls and reinstalls at this point re: this latest release (and the 2 prior ones).

My Intel drivers are now all up-to-date. Same experience with the Remove Tool & Button post driver updates on my NVIDIA GPU and Intel CPU... I get the "Fails to Activate" and "Program Doesn't Recognize" error msgs.

Do you see the error with the latest Release build 26.9, too? Do you know the last build where the Remove Tool was working?

This is what I see in the folder path where the Remove Tool is supposed to be - per your note. I'll attach a snip (from Win 11 Explorer) of the folder and what's in the expanded folder. I still get the Error Msg that the program is unable to use the Remove Tool (another snip of that below using a different image too). Thx.

Thank you for sharing the screenshots. They are very helpful. Oddly, the Remove Tool components are marked installed in Add-Ons, but the Adobe Photoshop (Beta) folder is entirely missing in the following directory.
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe

Can you completely uninstall the Adobe Photoshop (Beta) app so that we start from the same point? When asked if you want to keep Photoshop (Beta) preferences, make sure to click the [Remove] button.

Then try installing the Beta app again.

After the installation, ensure the Remove Tool components are installed in the following directory.
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop (Beta)\AddOnModules\sensei_model_cache\inpainting_ai\super_caf

Let me know if you still see the error messages when you use Remove Tool.

I just (8/5/25 @17110578:30 am PDT) tried your suggestion & deleted the Adobe Ps beta folder in the path:   C: Program Files > Common Files > Adobe > Adobe Ps beta

It did not help. The Remove Tool is still inaccessible.

Here's what I did in more depth:

- After I deleted that folder - per the link from the forums you pointed me to, I reinstalled Ps beta rel. 26.10 using the CC dashboard (see snip below that shows it installed and compatible with my Win 11 laptop)

- On the CC beta dashboard it shows the Remove Tool Components as added. Snip attached for that too below.

- I launched the Ps beta 26.10 & attempt to use the Remove Tool. I get the same bhvr noted above - i.e., I can draw a selection overlay on the area I want to remove until the selection closes - then I immediately get an Error Msg. But ---- this time it is a different error msg that says the "folder that's needed to use the tool is missing" (see snip of that below also).

- Bottom Line - the Remove Tool still isn't usable and the reinstall of a Ps beta does Not re-populate an Adobe Ps Beta folder into the Program Files > Common Files > Adobe >     folder.

Questions:

- What else can be done to correct this?

- When I expand that Adobe Ps beta folder that was under the Program Files > Common Files, should I see a file or folder that explicitly says "Remove Tool" somewhere?

- For those running Win 11 who do have a working Remove Tool in rel. 26.10 Ps beta, is there a visible listing of the Remove Tool in the component files?

- Is there someone who can view my system remotely to see if they can figure out what's what? It doesn't seem like something for someone who's reading from a script to try to diagnose whether the code "hooks" the tool in the UI needs to connect with the correct ops code are missing.

Here's what I've done after your reply this morning (Mon., Aug. 4, 2025) with my Win 11 laptop (NVIDIA 4090, Intel i9 14th gen) running only Ps beta (not production rel.):

- Rolled back to Ps beta 26.8 - Tested the Remove Tool there. It doesn't work there either. I'd also tried 26.9 and that didn't work either...

- Reinstalled Ps beta 26.10 - using whichever installer was available today on the CC beta apps page. Remove Tool still generated the same error msgs I posted snips of above. I already noted all the ways I'd tried to get it to work with Prefs., Option bar settings, working on Content vs Transparent layers, etc.

- Downloaded/installed latest (Jy 25, 2025) NVIDIA 4090 laptop Studio driver. Rebooted the laptop.

- Restored my saved Ps beta Settings (so my UI looks and works the way I like...).

- Launched Ps beta 26.10. It launches with no issues. I can open images. I can select the Remove Tool and draw around an object to be removed and see the overlay color/opacity I've set. As soon as I close the Remove area selection, then I immediately get the error msg that the Program is missing the info it needs for the tool to operate. I'll attach my snip from moments ago for you to see...

- I revisited the YouTube videos of the well-known Ps evangelists (Colin Smith, Morganti, Glyn Dewis, etc.) who promote new features for Ps and Ps beta - to see what they said/showed wrt the Remove Tool. What they all had in common - they were all demo'ing the features on Apple computers (not, Win 11 like I'm using...).

- Here's the snip I promised of the error msg from moments ago (I don't know where you're located, but I'm 20 mins from San Jose so on the same time as there).

Also, just saw your note about someone looking in Program Files > Common Files for the Ps beta folder there. I only have one Ps beta folder there. The date next to it is:  6/6/25 @ 6:23pm. Is that what should appear there if I've only been installing the latest Ps beta since Aug. 1? Is that date the date of the release or the install date?

"I found a fix for my issue. Turned out there was an existing/old "Adobe Photoshop (Beta) folder" that wouldn't let me overwrite it, under C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop (Beta). Deleting this folder helped resolved it and I could then the Remove Tool add-on."

Hi Cory,  I do have the most current beta as of last nite (Aug 3rd) and had the same experiences as noted in my beta rpt from Aug 1st.

I can't use the 2 prior beta releases (incl. 26.8) b/c they either wouldn't launch at all or had the same Remove Tool issues. Now I'm kicking myself that I updated... but I was curious to try Harmonize because I do quite a bit of compositing. 

I keep Ps beta (Win 11 laptop) & Ps production (Win 11 desktop) release on different computers.  I can't risk anything going screwy on my production release because I regularly produce Ps 'how to' videos for my YouTube channel each month. I'm on an older production release b/c I saw the beta issues with Remove and could not risk it porting to my YouTube recording production version of Ps...unless me demo'ing the bugs is okay.

I will check the RTX 4090 Studio driver for my laptop but have read dicey reviews about later versions. A lot of Adobe users are experiencing this Ps Remove bug. Are they all using the same 2024 NVIDIA driver? Have the devs been able to isolate how to fix the bug? The Spot Healing Brush can't do for me what the Remove Tool can.

My viewers on YT have been requesting I show comparisons of Ps & alternatives. I just hate the idea of showing a Remove Tool bug & error msgs when trying to tout the wonders of Ps.

I just ran an uninstall then reinstall of Ps beta rel. 26.10  to my Win 11 laptop (RTX 4090 processor) per Cory's mention of a newer release since last night (when I'd last tested the Remove Tool). The 1st reinstall failed. The 2nd reinstall is launchable, but the Remove Tool is stll unusable (and I lost all my Ps settings and preferences during the reinstall process which is frustrating b/c I'd customized a lot). Pls see attached Error Msgs that pop up when I try to use the Remove Tool using today's installation with a .tif image (duplicated background layer).

I just updated to Ps beta 26.10.0 (Aug. 1, 2025). Installed to a Win 11 laptop. The Remove Tool doesn't work. It's a tool I use constantly in every session. If this is an inherent bug I won't be able to work with this release of the beta and will have to roll back. Attempts to use the Remove Tool (on a Content or Transparent layer) gens the message "Failed to Activate" and/or "Could Not Complete" (sometimes both!). I have tried the Remove Tool with Prefs Image Processing settings on both "Faster" & "More Stable" (shutting down Ps beta b/wn settings changes). I get the same result in both settings. I've also tried the "Reset Tool" while on the Remove Tool - also doesn't fix it. And, I've reinstalled the beta (in case something hiccup'd in the first install).

My System Info is attached below.

@CShubert  - How do I roll back to Ps beta rel. 26.6? I don't see it in the list of versions now that I've installed 26.10.0 and I know the two prior versions to 26.10.0 don't work properly on my system. I'd tried them both initially and had to roll back to 26.6 with them. Pls advise.

I did try the one button Harmonize. It's still very hit or miss and doesn't offer the kinds of consistency of matching shadow and light or the controls I value (like in the neural filter) at this point of its development. Needs more work.
