automated JPG export ignores quality setting

I am using PS 24 on a MacBook Pro, Sonoma 14.3 machine.

It is impossible to automatically export JPGs in a certain quality setting. No matter what I set the quality value to upon automatic export - the resulting files always have exactly the same file weight (6MB for a 1920x1080px JPG!).

Any ideas?
