Bug Report: "Canvas Size" parameters are not recorded in Actions (Regression in Latest Version)

Software Version: Photoshop 27.4.0 (Latest Update)

Operation System:  macOS Sequoia 15.7.2

Problem Description: I am a user who relies heavily on the "Actions" feature for high-volume batch image processing. In the latest version of Photoshop, there is a critical bug where the "Canvas Size" command fails to record its parameters within an Action, while "Image Size" works as expected. This issue did not exist in previous versions.

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Open any image in Photoshop.

  2. Open the Actions panel and create a "New Action."

  3. Click the Record button.

  4. Go to Image > Image Size and modify the dimensions. (Recorded correctly).

  5. Go to Image > Canvas Size and modify the width/height or anchor point.

  6. Stop the recording.

Expected Result: The Action should display the "Canvas Size" step with the specific parameters (e.g., "Width: 2000 px, Height: 2000 px, Anchor: Center") recorded underneath it.

Actual Result: The "Canvas Size" step is either recorded as a generic command without specific parameters, or the parameters are ignored when the Action is played back. This makes the Action unusable for repetitive or batch tasks as it doesn't apply the intended canvas adjustments.

Additional Notes: This appears to be a regression. My workflow involves processing thousands of images, and this bug has created a significant bottleneck. Resetting preferences does not resolve the issue.

@Champion Lee  As @Jeff Arola wrote this is a known issue and give you a appropriate workaround.

Adobe is aware of the issue and for now, until Adobe issues a fix, going to Photoshop 2026>Settings>Technology Previews, unchecking Enable Modern User Interface and restarting Photoshop should allow the Canvas Size actions to record properly.
