Camera Raw Filter Does Not Respect Photoshop Artboard Boundaries

Product: Adobe Photoshop — Latest Release (2026)
Operating System: macOS — Latest Release
Hardware: Apple Mac Studio (Apple Silicon)

Issue: When applying Camera Raw to a merged Smart Object within a multi-artboard Photoshop document, the filter recognizes the larger document canvas rather than the individual artboard. This causes incorrect vignette positioning and interferes with the color-grading workflow.

Important: Photoshop's Export As correctly recognizes individual artboard boundaries, demonstrating the inconsistency.

I suspect this is the way it is currently supposed to work, and I work on that assumption.

Applied to a smart object layer, the ACR filter is applied as a smart filter to the (uncropped) contents of a (cropped) smart object. As far as I can see, this is the way it has to work, to allow easy re-cropping.

But I can see the problem with vignetting, and off the top of my head I don’t know what the workaround would be. Maybe this is a feature request rather than a bug report.
