Could not complete your request because of a program error

I've just recently started using the latest version of Photoshop 2024 (v25, updated to the latest 25.12 release today). Until this switch I've been using Photoshop 2023 as my go-to, and only v25 on rare occasions.
I'm now getting regular "Could not complete your request because of a program error" errors, most commonly when trying to edit a photo in the Camera Raw filter.  This probably only happens about 5% of the time, although it has also happened a couple of times doing other things (can't remember what at the moment). I have to save the image, close Photoshop, then reopen and it works fine.
I looked on the forums and have tried disabling 'Use Graphics Processor' under Preferences>Performance, and also disabling 'Enable Generator' under Plugins.  Neither made any difference.
I've never had this error in Photoshop 2023.
