The exposure adjustment layer produces incorrect results when the image has a linear (gamma 1.0) color profile. The effect of adjusting exposure or gamma does not match the menu/adjustments/exposure or the adjustment layer used in 32 bit mode.

I have found the cause of this issue. The adjustment layer uses the "Working Space" rather than the document colorspace. If both color spaces have the same gamma curve the result is correct.

The exposure adjustment layer really should be using the document color space, and not the "working space".
