Gradient map does not show opacity stops?

Hello, I am new to Photoshop and experience problems with no opacity stops showing up on the gradient map. only the white & black color stops at the bottom when the gradient editor. (as shown in screenshot). Now please know opacity stops showing up for gradient overlay in fx.

Iv'e looked at other discussions regarding classic gradient than going to legacy but. Im not the best at navigating and it is not showing up in my setup or i just dont know how to get there. please let me know if there is any other way and explain as if I am completely new cause I am. I did try resetting all gradient preferences but that did not help or change a thing. I was following tutorials before and it did appear to be there before but now is not showing up.

A work-around I use (depending on what effect I want) is to apply the image to the layer mask (Gradient map mask in the channels). Then use the curves tool on the image mask to adjust the transparency of the adjustment layer. For example, I might want a gradient map to affect the shadows but not the highlights.

That tutorial is using Photoshop 2020, and you are using 2024. In previous versions, the Transparency stops were visible, but, in Gradient Map, they had no effect. This caused a lot of confusion, because people thought it should do something, but Gradient Map only maps colors, not opacity.

The latest versions have removed the stops from the interface for Gradient Map, but are still there for all other uses of Gradients

I just posted and labelled a tutorial I am following and those screenshots are from his (1984) Now please refer to the first screenshot I sent of mine and how this does not appear. So there something wrong. Please help

How so, I'm confused overall and trying to follow tutorials. they click properties and opacity stops are there in gradient maps. on mine, they are not. I can't follow along cause mine are different. would you please clarify what you mean by there is no problem? or how they interact? I need more information. Im stuck here.

There is no problem. Gradient Map does not support transparency. If the Gradient has opacity stops, they are ignored.
