Image Processor freezes / forces ACR interface on stitched TIFF files after recent update

Since updating to the latest version of Photoshop and Camera Raw, the "Image Processor" batch script initiated in Bridge stops working when processing TIFF files with previously applied parameters in ACR. Instead of smooth batch processing in the background, the process freezes, and Adobe Camera Raw either forces an interactive window or interprets specific layer metadata/color profile information in the TIFF files as a required edit prompt.

This completely disrupts established, automated, professional workflows. The exact same TIFF files processed without any issues in previous versions of Photoshop/ACR, and reverting to the older version immediately resolves the issue. This indicates a regression in how the latest ACR engine handles raster files during batch operations.

Product and Version: Photoshop 27.10 / Camera Raw (latest version)

Operating System: Windows 11 Pro

Expected Result: The image processor should sequentially batch convert TIFF files in the background, without launching the ACR interface.

Actual Result: The process hangs when ACR tries to capture and analyze the files interactively.

Thanks for reporting this. Your description looks potentially related to an issue we’re already investigating in Photoshop 27.10, where certain TIFF files are unexpectedly intercepted by Camera Raw, even when TIFF handling is disabled.

Your case is slightly different because you’re seeing it specifically through Bridge > Image Processor during batch processing, so I’d like to establish whether we’re seeing the same underlying behavior.

Could you please share:

  • A sample TIFF that reliably triggers the problem.

  • A short screen recording showing the Bridge > Image Processor workflow from start to the point where Camera Raw opens/hangs.

  • Photoshop > Help > System Info > Copy & paste here.

  • Whether the same TIFF opens directly in Photoshop in ACR when you double-click/open it outside Image Processor.

  • Whether disabling TIFF support in Camera Raw makes any difference.

Please also let us know what created the TIFFs originally and whether they contain alpha channels, layers, or embedded metadata.

If we can reproduce the same TIFF interception outside the Image Processor workflow, that would help us connect your report to the existing investigation.
