Incorrect color preview in Save for Web and Export As, plus "Missing Profile" when reopening Save for Web JPEG
Environment
- Photoshop 27.8.0
- macOS 26.5.1
- Apple Silicon (MacBook Pro M5 Pro)
Issue 1 – Incorrect preview in Save for Web and Export As
Steps to reproduce
- Open an image in either Adobe RGB or sRGB.
- Open File → Export → Save for Web (Legacy) or File → Export → Export As.
Expected
The export preview should match the image displayed in the main Photoshop window.
Actual
Both Save for Web and Export As display a significantly oversaturated preview. The preview does not match the document displayed in Photoshop.
For Export As, the exported JPEG is nevertheless correct and opens with the expected colors.
Issue 2 – Save for Web JPEG reopens as Missing Profile
Steps to reproduce
- Open an Adobe RGB image.
- Convert it to sRGB IEC61966-2.1 using Edit → Convert to Profile.
- Export using Save for Web (Legacy) with Convert to sRGB and Embed Color Profile enabled.
- Reopen the exported JPEG in Photoshop.
Expected
The JPEG should reopen with the embedded sRGB profile.
Actual
Photoshop displays:
The document does not have an embedded RGB profile.
If Leave as is (don't color manage) is selected, the document opens as Untagged RGB.
The same JPEG is recognized as sRGB IEC61966-2.1 by macOS Preview, sips, and mdls.
Saving the same document via File → Save a Copy → JPEG (Embed Color Profile enabled) produces a JPEG that Photoshop reopens correctly with its embedded sRGB profile.
