iPad toolbar messed up PhotoShop
Product: Photoshop for iPad
Issue Type: UI / Rendering Bug
Device: iPad 9th generation
Chipset: A13 Bionic
OS: Latest available iPadOS for this device
App Version: Latest Photoshop for iPad
Description:
The left toolbar in Photoshop for iPad exhibits severe UI rendering issues. Toolbar icons smear and leave ghost trails when switching tools or interacting with the UI, as if frames are not being cleared properly. This makes tool selection unreliable and significantly impacts usability.
Steps to Reproduce:
Launch Photoshop on iPad 9 (A13)
Open any document
Interact with the left toolbar (switch tools or scroll)
Observe icon ghosting and smearing
Expected Result:
Toolbar icons render cleanly and refresh correctly with no visual artifacts.
Actual Result:
Toolbar icons smear and leave persistent trails, indicating a redraw or GPU rendering failure.
Troubleshooting Performed:
Multiple full device restarts
Offloaded and reinstalled the app
Full delete and reinstall
Disabled Stage Manager and multitasking
Locked screen orientation
Enabled Reduce Motion
None of the above resolved the issue.
Additional Notes:
Illustrator on iPad runs normally on the same device
Issue appears specific to Photoshop’s rendering layer
This may be related to a Metal/GPU redraw issue on A13 hardware
Impact:
This issue makes Photoshop effectively unusable on this device.
Please advise if this is a known issue, if there is a stable build recommended for A13 devices, or if support for this hardware has changed.
Thank you,
