Lag when adding adjustment layers

When adding an adjustment layer, there will be a lag or delay and it could take up to 30 seconds or a minute to add the adjustment. I can continue to work while photoshop, I assume, is working on adding the adjustment layer. Sometimes it is instantateous, as it should be, but I would say the lag happens 50% of the time. On occasion, a 'working' bar comes up with some verbiage indicating that it is working on rendering the adjustment layer (I don't have the exact wording).  This occurs with both 16 bit and 8 bit images. If i save and close the image and open it back up, sometimes that snaps it out of the lag for a bit but it does come back.

 

Has this happened to anyone else and if so has anyone found a fix?

I don't see this on my Windows machine.

 

Please try to reset the preferences of Photoshop using the steps described here:

Please backup your settings before resetting the preferences. You can check:

https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/preferences.html#backup-photoshop-preferences

 

If this doesn't help we need more inforamtions about your system. Please provide a copy of your 'System Info'. This can be get from the Photoshop menu item Help > System Info. There's a copy button in the System Info dialog. Press this button and paste the info into your next forum post.
