Lightroom does not trigger macos to clear purgeable Diskspace / Time Machine Snapshots
This is a bug that has existed since macos introduced time machine backups.
As a user I think it is about time that this issue is addressed, it has cost me countless hours of work time that I had to use working around this bug that it has become really expensive for me.
Step to reproduce: use a mac os system and run time machine. Work on it until disk fills up and do regular time machine backups. When the disk is full, free some disk space, moving finished photoshoots to a NAS is a good way. (Don't use lightroom when doing it, because it *will* eventually have hickups and fail and then a simple task of reliably copying a half copied folder to a new location becomes a pain).
Now confirm in finder that you have more than enough disk space available to import a new shoot from a large card. You can also confirm that Lightroom will likely not reflect this and show a lot less space than is available (in my case just now it was 700GB! The exact number lightroom sees unfortunately is unknown because on drives larger than 1tb it will onls show TB in .1 decimal increments which is not very ideal).
If you still choose to run the import you will have the import fail, lightroom likely freeze (if not crash) because it is running out of diskspace despite the os thinking that there is enough space free.
I am aware that there are workarounds for this, like manually copying your files to finder to properly triggger the os to do what it is designed to do, but really this is a bug that has been biting me for so many years, I would really like to kindly ask you to finally get this bug fixed after all these years of me spending a lot of money on your software.
Just for the love of god (I'm not religious but really trying hard not to swear) please just sit down with Apple and get this mess fixed once and for all so we can finally have good software that works as expected and does not carry huge bugs like this for an unbelievable amount of years.
Please accept my apologies for my tone, but this bug among others drives me absolutely mad and it has been doing so for so many years. I really dont want to be forced to copy my files from the card to the disk in finder because I really expect good UX from Adobe. This is the absolute opposite. I'm having nightmares from this.
