Loading RAW files into Photoshop layers via Bridge

I was really hoping this problem would never arise fro me again, because there was never any fix in the older versions of PS I was using when I first encountered it. When I'm loading RAW files into photoshop layers via Bridge, something that is heavily intrinsic in all my workflows, for some reason the RAW settings are now being completely disregarded. I haven't changed any settings, I haven't moved the cache. It's infuriating, if anyone has a fix for this, it would be incredible!!

Br ver: 12.0.4.286

Ps ver: 23.5.5

I'm not updating to the new Bridge version until they address the multiple windows ope scenario. Basic fact is this function just stopped working for no apparent reason, I know there will be a reason, but it must be something that has changed in the background I'm not aware of.

That makes sense. Yes, clearly a bug.

I don't use LR, too bulky, too much flannel, all the RAW functionality I require is well within the gamut of ACR. I have however discovered that if you have one RAW file you're trying to load into the set that hasn't been adjusted in RAW, then the script ignores the settings in the other RAW files that have been adjusted and loads them all without any RAW adjustments being applied. That would be my first port of call if I was looking at fixing the bug. Let me konw your thoughts.

Got it. From what I can see here, this just runs the file through ACR at whatever default settings you have for ACR. Individual adjustments are not carried over, so my result is the same as yours. That certainly looks like a bug to me.

I tried the equivalent procedure in Lightroom Classic (which is what I use anyway for raw files), and there it behaves correctly. All adjustments come through in the Photoshop layers.

Here's how it looks in LrC:

Also note the "open as smart object layers" option. This is what you choose if you want to be able to revisit and readjust the initial settings for the raw file.

I'm opening up RAW files to implement changes in ACR then Bridge / tools / photoshop / load images into photoshop layers. Sometimes it loads the images with the RAW setting I've made, sometimes it doesn't, with no discrfenable reason why. Hope you can help, it's really annoying and adds a load of time onto jobs when I'm working with a specific workflow.

Tell us exactly, step by step, what you're doing.

I'm getting a feeling that you initially open a raw file in the ACR raw processor into Photoshop - but then you're using the ACR filter from within Photoshop. Those two are not the same thing, and it's not the same file anymore.

If you want to go back to your initial settings for the raw file, you need to open as a smart object.

But maybe I'm wrong.

I see we have little interest or resolution for this really annoying bug, I'm genuinely hoping someone can step up here, is it is a feature I use a LOT! Beuller.......beuller........
