The recommended RAM is 16 GB or more. Most of us have "more". You should be able to launch Photoshop with only 8 GB, but you won't be able to do all of the functions.

You might contact Adobe Customer Care, as they can look at your screen. Try the link to auto-open the Chat:

It looks like your Mac meets them - maybe as Lumigraphics says - is your hard drive formatted as case sensitive?

Did you format the drive as case-sensitive? That won't work.

Can you post a screenshot from the apple menu about this Mac? What year is it, how much RAM does it have, the graphics card, etc.
