MOV files and save for web legacy not working

MOV files do not appear in photoshop, there is a checked box once imported? This feature used to work but not sure if it is a MAC or adobe update.
when using the 'save for web legacy' feature, photoshop will crash or when this does load, it shows a red/pink square. I cannot use this feature to create animated GIFs. 
Can anyone reccomend an alternative or ways to fix this?
