P: Action to transform/warp gives program error on background layer

Just updated to the new Photoshop 2020. I frequently have to Transform > Warp images, then crop (all with the exact same dimensions), so I will create an Action so I can replicate this over multiple images. Works great in Photoshop 2019. Does not work in Photoshop 2020.  Says "Could not complete the command because of program error". I have uploaded a sample action here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1pzwhCkg-NrWk0nN4nWiLktpDrwwiLA42/view?usp=sharing

What I am trying to do is pretty simple.  Transform > Warp > Deselect > Crop.

You can see where I posted about this issue in the Adobe Forums. One of the users came to some interesting conclusions: https://community.adobe.com/t5/photoshop/action-bug-in-photoshop-2020/m-p/10716990#M275242.   Please get this fixed! Thanks!

Greetings,

This issue should be fixed in the Photoshop 22.3.1 update that went live today. This update includes fixes to some of the top customer reported issues among other bug fixes. See Bug fixes and security updates

To update Photoshop to 22.3.1, click "Update" in the Creative Cloud desktop app next to Photoshop. See: More detailed instructions for updating

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks,

Nikunj

Hi Sara, if I run the action on a background layer it gives a program error. If I promote the background to a floating layer it will work. You could add a conditional step prior to transform to convert the background layer as a workaround. I've asked engineering to look into the issue with running on a background layer.
