P: Alternate Type Glyphs Not Working in 2023 (v24.x)

I am using Photoshop 24.0.0. When I use the font Leander Script Pro Bold (a script font), alternate letters show when I rollover the letter, but when I try to choose an alternative, it doesn't change. I opened the file in Photoshop 23.3.2 and it worked just fine.

Unfortunately the newest update, 24.01, did not fix this problem as I am currently experiencing it with Bookman JF Pro.

Hi, good news, @Outtacontext and other affected users, Photoshop 24.0.1 is out with a fix for this issue: https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/fixed-issues.html

Please run the update from your Creative Cloud desktop application and report if it cures your problem!

Hello folks!

I am a T-shirt designer and I mostly work with fancy phonts to create my designs. Since last week I have major troubles working with glyphs / alternate characters in my fonts. All the fonts used to work properly before the update.

ISSUE 1 - pop-up does not change after chosing an alternate.

Well, this is a fancy font having 5 alternates for each letter. I typed Lorem Ipsum text and changed P to the filled one. After the change if I want to access the other alternates again, they do not show.

ISSUE 2 - letters do not change at all!

I created several designs with this font before and it worked well. In this case the alternate characters do show, but after clicking it they do not change at all.

When I want to insert the character from the Glyphs map, it inserts the default.

(you see a different letter "p" was to be inserted)

3. ISSUE 3 - text already typed with alternates changes back to default letters after clicking on it.

An older design, where I manually changed each letter for the most realistic look.

After I click on the text to edit...

Voila! All the letters are the default, the same.

I would really like this bug resolved soon as the peak season is coming.

Thank you!

Running on Win 10.

Did this change the exact time you installed Photoshop 2023?

I assume you kept the old version - does this now happen in Photoshop 2022, or does it still work as before?

Also getting this with Europa - so it's a big bug.

Using Freight Sans font for numbers drops them down, normally we are able to select a different glyph character to get it inline. After updating to 2023, you can still select the right glyph, but nothing happens? Any ideas how to fix this issue?

Same here. Could copy paste a txt layer from into PS24 with the alternate glyph from PS 23 , but then I again couldn't change the glyph versions.

I am experiencing this issue in 2023 as well. Alternate glyphs are not replacing the primary glyph. Even selecting an alternate glyph from the glyph panel inserts the primary glyph.

I had the same issue, reverted back to 23.5.2 to regain this capability until there this a fix

Jane, the screenshot in 24.0.0 looks identical to the way it looks in older versions. And, when I open the glyph panel, and click on an alternate, it doesn't change in 24.0.0
